Books on electronics repair

Does anyone know of any good books or other resources to learn how to do some basic electronic repair? Things like replace the binding posts in my amplifier, learn more about how amps work, learn to replace capacitors and resistors, how to discharge a capacitor, etc. I want to start learning how to do these things and have no idea where to start.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Parts Express/Amazon has many different books and learning materials. I would suggest you also study some theory too, if you're going to be playing with the stuff, be safe about it. Some of those caps carry high voltage for sure, so I suggest learning how to read schematics as well. I would suggest a class or two, but that's just me. Removing caps, etc requires the use of a solder iron and knowing how to use it. I learned how to solder real well through practicing on a blank PCB board. Go to the Rat shack buy a few resistors, boards, and other components and try that way. Search on Amazon came up with

Thanks for the link. I did an amazon and google search before posting here, but I couldn't seems to find a definitive source for how to learn this stuff. I'm most definitely willing to learn some theory, in fact I'm itching to. And as far as practicing soldering, most willing. I've done a little here and there, but still a novice.Speakers: Polk LSi15

You can do what I did to learn electronics and repair. Join the Navy, take their aptitude test, find out you have an talent for that type of thing, and go to their electronic schools. Maybe the books are a better way.
Seriously though, this type of thing really is a hands on experience, and you need all types of (expensive) test equipment in order to troubleshoot most problems. There probably are some type of trade schools in your area that offer courses in this area.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

Shunyata Sigma XLR analog ICs, Sigma speaker cables

Yeah, joining the Navy is not an option
I don't need to become a complete expert here, and I don't need to be able to diagnose and repair every problem that might spring up. Being able to replace a few things, get some basic understand about how amps and audio equipment works, and just generally learn some of the ropes is what I'm looking for. And hands-on experience is wonderful (and I'm looking forward to it), but I don't want to just dive in blind, so I need some resources.Speakers: Polk LSi15

You don't have to join the Navy to avail yourself of NEETS:
