This is the biggest reason I have to get a PS3. The day they announce a SOLID release date for this, I'm heading to some store somewhere to pick me up a PS3!

Oh a Mobile version for the PSP is coming out too. It has a mid-October release date and that's supposedly official.

PSP official launch date is Oct 1, hope the PS3 isn't too far behind.

exactly, I will believe it when I see it. Maybe it will be ready in time for the PS4. Forza 3 should rock though.

Basically they could release it tomorrow if they wanted, but they will never be happy with it. Can you say Duke Nukem? Here is a quote from this article.

    http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/gran-turismo-psp-hands-on?page=2
Eurogamer: I appreciate you're not here today to talk about GT5, but is there anything you can say about how development's going?

Kazunori Yamauchi: I want to release it as fast as I can, but GT5 for us, when you talk about its status, it's at a point we can release it any time we want, but we can always keep working on it. It's very important for us to make sure everything is done perfectly and everything is done in detail.

I have always understood that the release date was expected to be near the end of 2009 since before Prologue was released. This was the reason for Prologue: Give gamers SOMETHING new for the time being untill the full game is ready.

I honestly think (and hope) they will get it out for this year's holiday season regardless of how 'detailed' they have it by then. All GT's have been regarded as unfinished products by Polyfony since their visions go beyond the scope of reality!

They talked about a fully playable GT5 on the PSP when it was released years before the PS3... After two years of waiting, I sold my PSP... I refuse to deal with Sony for a good long time.

That's a shame. There are many good titles for the PSP and GT Mobile for the PSP has a release date in October this year. It's not an if or when it's a solid 10/09 date. Sucks to be you.

Sucks to be Sony; if they made the release 4 years ago when they promised I'd still have an interest in the PSP. As it stands, I'm a casual gamer anyway and getting much more out of my iPod touch (posting with now).
Sony has been creating great hardware for ever; great quality stuff that looks good too, but they jerk their fans around way too much. Until I feel I have to, I'm off the Sony lie ride, and I'm willing to bet I'm not the only one.
Even if they release the GT for PSP in Oct., they promised it at launch of the original PSP... The one at E3 is the 3rd PSP... C'mon.

    Damn. Tough crowd.
I get frustrated by the delays too. Would you rather they did it like EA Madden games? Half-assed, yearly updates to the same game, instead of making real improvements every few years and charge a small fee for roster updates.

I'd rather they take the time, and do it right. It's what keeps the GT series steps ahead of the Forza's of the world. (I still could do without the "go fast, turn left "sport"):p

    LOL!
Delays are cool. Showing clips of a game that you claim is a working title and not putting it out for 4 or 5 years isn't a delay. It's a lie.
    Not that it matters.
They finally have the capabilities hardware wise to produce their vision and I hope it does come out... I'm just not going to hold my breath.

I think y'all put way too much in to video games. Especially if you're a "casual gamer".

I'm a casual gamer and I really couldn't care less when it gets released just that it actually gets released. All production schedules slip. Hell, World of Warcraft was almost a year behind schedule and plenty of people were writing off Blizzard, just like the whiny fanboys are about the GT series and Sony. But as soon as WoW broke, it was a smash hit, still is.

You also have to understand that there are many more people out there like me than there are like you. You probably don't think so because you probably interact with more people who share your views than not. But the GT series has been, for the past 10 years, one of the best selling labels on the market for Sony. It made the original Playstation what it was and it was what sold the PS2 like hotcakes. Sony NEEDS GT5 and if all the stuff I keep seeing out there about GT5 is right, it's going to turn the market on it's head like the original GT did many years ago.

I honestly think that the only thing on the horizon that can compete right now is not Forza 3 but rather the titles from Codemasters like DiRT, DiRT 2, FUEL and GRID.

Hey guy. I don't see where we are disagreeing. I bought the first GT when it came out. I bought a PS2 with GT... Just for GT. And I bought a PSP because they were showing the GT "working" videos on PSP release.
Years later, they are still working on it. Not months, not one year... Years.

That said, You can see in this post, I've said something constructive and nice about Sony throughout. Hardware-wise, as consoles go, they are simply the best by far and so far. Yes, when(ever) GT comes out, it'll be the ballz and sell a billion million billion copies. They'll even sell PS3's to people that don't currently have one just for this game.

And for many people that's totally awesome. But I'm not speaking for other people. I'm speaking for me. The PSP set me back a few hundo back in the day. I'm not falling for that **** again. Sony can do what they like, and it'll be great, but they simply won't be getting my business.

Does Sony care? No. Do I care if they care? No. Do I care if you care? No. I just wanted to contribute to a discussion. As far as whose viewpoints I interact with or whatever... Most of my friends have a PS3. A few will buy GT.
And I'll play it on their machine a little and be amazed by it's sheer awesomeness. And whenever I stop disliking a company that jerks it's fan-base around enough to pony up the money, I'm sure I'll buy it myself.

    Just not anytime soon, mate.

    Nice!

Read somewhere on the web that some EA programmer said that he felt that capabilities of Xbox 360 had been maxed out, but that programmers still had headroom on PS3.

I think someone here should make a "DIY how-to" on building a chair for a steering wheel and pedals. As fun as they are to use, I've always found them rather cumbersome.

I'm brainstorming to adapt the wheel to a popular Ikea chair.

    Hater! :D

    and to everyone else:

It looks like Yamauchi has been stating a 2010 release for over a year. With a new prediction of q4 2009 I can't understand how people can think this thing won't get released. If you really believe it won't get released until the PS5 is out, I dare you to wait untill then to purchase any GT title.

Patience is a virtue. I would be much happier waiting for a fine-tuned and well-polished complete game than having something that was rushed and thrown together carelessly right away.

Sony doen't owe you anything and neither does Polyphony.

You mean like GT2 which is impossible to win because they couldn't get the drag racing segment worked out so the highest percentage of complete you can get in the game is 98.2% complete?

Yeah, I'd rather wait and not have to deal with that again.
