I was reading the sections about speaker care and it spoke on this under misuse, no karaoke ect.
Does this mean no Rock Band, Guitar Hero, Singstar on them?

Shake your head around, furiously, and think about that whole reading experience. Most of that is probably because a 13 yr. old blew everything up whilst in his fantasy world of chicks and vitamins.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

^ o......k?
Also I have been hearing some light speaker popping in between commercials ect, and did not hear it with old speakers...reasons? -

Speakers designed for home use are different than speakers designed for PA use, which would be a better choice for things like Karaoke. However, if the volume is kept at a reasonable level you shouldn't have any problems. Also I have been hearing some light speaker popping in between commercials ect, and did not hear it with old speakers...reasons?
Too many variables. First, you'll need to figure out if the popping is actually in the speakers or caused by something upstream.Political Correctness'.........defined

I have no idea how to figure that out. I only know that it does not happen in movies, or games, only my tv channel input.

I am hoping this helps.:)
And I further hope you just are here for the help rather than jacking up a post count to sell something. Welcome to CPThe Gear... I think this is a little premature slowpolk. The guy had 20 posts by the end of May. I think he could have "raced" to 25 well before June 4 if he wanted. Also all were in threads started by him on various set up questions he had. For someone just trying to race to 25, to post in the 4 sale section he sure is working pretty hard and creatively to hide it.
He had like 8 posts in 2 days while you had 20 in your first 2 days here.
Maybe you should go back to sherlock school and stop jumping to conclusions so quick.
Time will tell, but I think he deserves a little slack here. -
My Onkyo pops like microwave popcorn when switching sources, digital, Dolby Tru-HD, analog, TV-DVD-CD, etc. But once it's locked it's fine.
Plus a lot of TV over cable has **** audio transmission and dropouts which can cause the receiver to reset in order to grab onto the digital signal again..and...and...and....

Thanks a ton to those of you that have helped, and a big what the hell to the others... I don't know about or care about any for sale stuff on here. I came here for support as I bought a new polk setup, and I keep coming back because people here are superb in their friendliness and advice.
If you wish to be an immature little monkey jumping on others then I suggest you head to gamefaqs

Seriously I do not understand the paranoia to think to people always have elaborate message board plans and schemes.
ANYWAY- I have another concern that has popped up, and seems to be the last thing that needs to be fixed. My xbox 360 is going over optical to the receiver for 5.1 (hdmi audio is not working correctly so I switched it) but the center channel is not giving any sound in most games. It just pushes sound out of the left and right. I have spoken to others to make sure it is not the game I am playing, and they had stated their center channels are working. It works fine on the ps3 and with television, both over hdmi and digital coax respectively, but nothing on 360.
I need to know some suggestions on what might be wrong? Thank You! No, I am not here to sell something, nor do I even know what that process entails. -
Are there any audio set-up in the receiver or the Xbox that could have been switched from 5.1 to 2 channel?
-
Karaoke does not blow up speakers. Underdriving the speakers at high volume is the bigest reason for blown speakers.Sunfire TGP, Sunfire Cinema Grand, Sunfire 300~2 (2), Sunfire True Sub (2),Carver ALS Platinum, Carver AL III, TFM-55, C-19, C-9, TX-8, SDA-490t, SDA-390t

Sometimes when I am watching On-Demand when a show starts I get a loud pop through the speakers. I figure it's a Comcast problem.
-
the audio on the xbox is on 5.1, and it is in surround, just no center channel
-
Do you have a DVD player hooked up to your receiver also, or something else to test the 5.1 of the unit to find out if it's the receiver or the Xbox?
-
I tested it with the ps3 and the tv, both did 5.1 just fine.

This may be true but I have imperical evidence that sinking Karaoke ruins the vocal cords of the singers and damages the "fight or flight" response of the "entertained".The world is full of answers, some are right and some are wrong. - Neil Young -

Good one. I never liked Karaoke myself. But since I can't sing worth a damb that might be the reason.Sunfire TGP, Sunfire Cinema Grand, Sunfire 300~2 (2), Sunfire True Sub (2),Carver ALS Platinum, Carver AL III, TFM-55, C-19, C-9, TX-8, SDA-490t, SDA-390t -

Welcome to CP Nightsbane! This crowd can be tough, so saying what amounts to F**K you is appropriate at times!
F1Nut nailed it on the head. Volume blows tweeters, not the content. So, if you care to caroon to songs, watch the volume level. A voice has a significant dynamic range to it and some miked systems go straight through (e.g. P.A.) the amplifier.
Your other problem suggests it might be from the xbox. You suggest that some of the games operate properly at 5.1, but most will not. -
thanks for the tips!
