The only GM vehicle the military needs sold to the Chinese.
    Maybe they'll buy California next?

The Military vehicle is a HMMWV, (Humvee) which is made by AM General Corp not General Motors.

An H2 which most people call a Hummer, is just a Surburban frame with a Humvee looking body.

Also, FWIW, the US Military has been trying to replace the Humvee long before this whole thing came up due to the problems and shortcomings of the vehicle.

Search for JLTV (Joint Light Tactical Vehicle)

    http://www.military.com/news/article/army-awards-jltv-contracts.html?ESRC=topstories.RSS

Unlike the Humvee, which was originally designed as a rear area and garrison vehicle and was converted into a passable fighting vehicle by slapping armor and weapons onto it, the JLTV will be designed from the ground up as a fighting vehicle incorporating lessons learned from the fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Company will be renamed to Chimmer after Chinese owns it. It'll be made available to Chinese public for less than 1/10 of what Hummer costs now. What a nightmare!

Then who gives a crap. Send it to China. They deserve it.
May it bring them all the luck it's brought us!:D

Edit:So, what happens to the GM /AM General joint projects like this one that makes the H2?

I seen that on the news yesterday. If this goes much further I have a bad feeling that we are all going to suffer even worse then we might be know.

The only other side of the coin is that most of the parts are to be made here, as part of the deal. My guess is that they will find a loophole in that and send more of their workers over with VISA's to man the factory here in the states. It all sounds kinda fishy to me, we are being sold-out and there is not a damn thing we can do about it.

Yea I vote but with the electronic voting, we should all know, means ****, so voting someone out will be not happen IMO. So I say if GM's going bankrupt why not give them another $60 billion for doing so (I heard that on the news also) it will be the ultimate Golden Paracute after all it's all about one-upman ship. You can't fire the CEO of Home Depot for not doing anything, doing a bad job would have ment he was doing something and still give him $15mil to get out. Home depot is nothing compaired to these smack-asses so they deserve a hell of alot more for doing nothing.

Well...I rather doubt they'd change the name. Part of what they bought was the name "Hummer". I don't think there would be much brand recognition with a different name.

Also, we aren't giving the Chinese any military secrets with this. The military Humvees aren't produced by GM.

Good riddance Hummer. I won't miss your butt-ugly gas guzzling vehicles too much myself.

I also heard earlier that Carrhart has officially gone out of business. Their name will probably be bought up by some Chinese company, and they'll start producing complete crap quality clothing and sell them at the same prices.

They really want the dealer network, which they got as part of the deal. The Chinese want to break into the US auto market but have been very unsuccessful so far. 'having trouble with US standards, such as safety, reliability and air pollution controls concerning a vehicle of their own mfgr. Plus, the U.S. buyer expects such things. 'suspect their hope is that having a pre-established dealer network will make the difference....

+1 and it's kinda wierd that they closed down mostly "Republican" Chrysler dealerships. Pelosi just went to China for a conference.

Well, given that when you look at dealerships as a whole the general breakdown is 66-75% donate Republican and 25-33% donate to Democrats, are you really that shocked that something like a hair over 3/4ths of closed dealerships are Republican donors?

When you factor in their will be a higher number of rural dealerships in the poor performing catagory, and democrats are more prevalent in urban areas, the number seems to be about right.

They closed 1 distribution center, 16 people lost their jobs.

They have been making some of their clothing in other countries for years, including China.

It probably will. Look at all the people who today claim to be "god loving, patriotic, flag waving Americans!" and then go out and buy all the Chinese crap they can afford from Wal*Mart, then go buy a big SUV/V-8 gas guzzler and send their money off as the gas pump to the Middle East making the terrorist producing countries wealthier.

I'm sure those same people will have no problems buying up the Chinese cars if they can "save" money
