Who else in here is watching season 3? I'm glad that the dalton highway is the main story again. Last year the contestants made things interesting because the road didn't seem to create a ton of story lines.

    didn't catch season 3 yet

    season 2 was a bit boring, what with Polarbear just making crap tanker runs all season. Sure, he got a lot of loads (literally), but what did he actually do? Drive, stop, fill, drive, stop, empty, repeat. No waiting for cranes to load your truck, no having to strap anything down. for something that was supposed to be "even more brutal", it really didn't seem that much worse...

    It always annoys me that they have to make a massive show out of every time a truck enters the ice, with the dubbed-over ice cracking sounds and the announcer saying "He's now taking **** tons on only **** inches of ice"

    Still, I keep watching :)
    Ludicrous gibs!

    Just saw this for basically the first time Saturday night. Really enjoyed it. I don't imagine I'll go out of my way to watch it, but I'll definitely watch it when I see it on.

    I caught on last season and me and the wife watched all the episodes and will follow this season as well.

    The only things I didnt like about it were the previews of the upcoming show. Theyd always make it look like all hell broke loose and then when the episode actually aired, it was nothing.

    Last season was kinda boring cause what they were doing wasnt as hard as it was made out to be but this season is another thing. The road theyre driving now is a nightmare! This one will be good!

    Every time I go to my parents house, my dad says he is going to be an ice road trucker. He says this mainly as a threat to get away from my mother. However, we all know that he prefers the south Florida weather, not so much the Alaskan outdoors.

    Yeah but that $1600 PER LOAD can sure be awful tempting! ;)

    Ive actually thought about looking into something like that but with this new house and a new baby on the way there is no way I could be away from home like that no matter how much it paid.

    OK so we got big big trucks, we got roads like rollercoasters with ice on them for the trucks, we got tough grisly ole effers who cuss and put it on the line, we got crashes, we got fights, we lost the two panty wipe big sissy trucks guys, we got a big cannon shooting big rounds into a hillside to make avalanches and then we still have a road of ice over the ocean.

    But best of we all got a pretty hot lady trucker this year.

    Yea baby sounds good to me.

    I've watched it a couple times and think it belongs on TNT, CMT, TBS or some other lame network.

    The History Channel used to be a channel where a person could watch some intelligent TV and come away with a new tidbit of information or a greater appreciation of the past. Now, Loggers and Truckers? Give me a break.

    I remember when The History Channel's nickname was "The Hitler Channel" as it was WWII in Europe all day, every day. Personally, I wish they would dump the insipid "Monster Quest" and worthless "Gangland".

    We used to call it the War Channel ... until they morphed into the Military Channel. Fewer commercials and no off hour infomercials.

    A while back my firm was in discussions with the folks that produce Ice Road Truckers on another project. The premise/formula is quite interesting and very simple. Produce a reality show about folk doing something that is real "man" like and introduce drama & conflict.

    The original concept that took off: Orange County Choppers (since discontinued).

    Follow Up Shows:

    Ice Road Truckers;

    artic crab fishermen;

    loggers in the northwest.

    Same deal, different macho setting.

    I love the show but I agree. I guess an argument could be made that this is history in the making but I think it would be better placed on another network.

    Monster Quest is probably the biggest let down of them all. It seems like every single show is about big foot...and they never find anything even interesting.

    Just watched an episode of this, it was interesting to see them talk about the road and how bad the conditions were and how they keep reminding everyone this is the most dangerous road in north america which is totally false :D trust me on this there are far and I mean by far worse roads here in alaska. The Dalton Hy more commonly known here as the Haul RD pales in comparison to the Taylor HY.

    In fact the winter time is the best time to travel the haul road. i had to laugh my **** off when I heard one of the truckers say he could barely tell where the road was because it was snowing. I have been driving up in prudhoe when there have been total whiteout conditions and it was far worse then what I seen tonight on the show, but to make it interesting they have to hype everything up and make it seem far worse.

    I own some land about 3 blocks from where Carlisle trucking is here on the same road.

    REGARDS SNOW
    Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

    I nearly fell off the chair laughing when they described "the NEAR VERTICAL GRADES" on the "roller coaster"

    Umm, yeah. I would like to see any truck take a "near vertical grade" in the best conditions.

    Having grown up around trucks and truck drivers (my dad was a diesel mechanic when I was young), I just wonder what in the heck is so interesting about a bunch of foul mouthed, dirty, smelly and mostly unpleasant truck drivers cruising across the the most boring (white) landscape one can imagine? Is everyone hoping to see someone die, or get into a great big accident? If that is the case, you are all a bunch of morbid people. I can think of about 100 other things that would be more entertaining way to pass time than to watch a bunch of illiterate people doing what must be the single most boring job on the face of the earth.

    I walked to school in the snow....uphill both ways, I pulled my red wagon to the Hi-Lo grocery store for my Mom over the icy streets after school so there, I have already been an Ice Road Warrior.

    For some it's considered to be rugged individualism. For others it's an escape from office politics. Whatever it is, it's a life that few get to see and appreciate it's difficulties.
