And you guys think headphones are "mere" accessories?

Anyone here attended head-fi.org's "CanJam 2009"?
I didn't get the chance to attend this one. I was reading through the "CanJam Impressions" thread and it looks like a lot of fun.
Check out some of the gear at this event....

I missed the last one that was not far from me but I went to a mini-meet in March. Some very nice people there. A few members in FL are going to Cali for CJ 09. One thing about these guys is that they know their $hit when it comes to source and Dacs. I member near me lent me a pair of Senn 650's. They sound very good, but I still cannot get used to phones vs. a good 2 channel setup.

If given a choice, I will still chose a 2 channel speaker system. However, a good headphone-based system is not a bad alternative at all.

Or listening to music late at night. Sometimes I like to crank the volume a little louder than what's appropriate for late night listening, therefore headphones are a must. My headphone-based system, if you can call it that, consisted of a Sony DVP-NS500V SACD/CD/DVD player connected to a Technics Pro-Logic receiver powering a pair of Grado SR60 headphones. It actually sounds very good. -
The recent introdution of new Grados and Senns make this meet a big deal.
I go back and forth from cans to speakers. My current speaker setup
is the best yet. If there's any way to get the HD800's without a 2nd mortgage,
I might go that route. But for now, speakers win.
The Senn/Stax setups I have do give me the means to change up
once in a while for that different sound."The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbour to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg." --Thomas Jefferson -

You are right that in the fact that I have a line on my preamp that I don't go over after 10 pm or so. But by that time for me at least I am thinking of going to bed.:DSunfire TGP, Sunfire Cinema Grand, Sunfire 300~2 (2), Sunfire True Sub (2),Carver ALS Platinum, Carver AL III, TFM-55, C-19, C-9, TX-8, SDA-490t, SDA-390t
