Here's a link from when I did my Monitor 5B's.

I used Solens, but Dayton and Clarity caps have been used by others also.....with great results.

The schematics are in the Vintage speaker section, but it's always a good idea to pull the terminal cup and visually look at your crossover as they can vary slightly over time. That way you know exactly what you need.

I's also highly recommend replacing the resistors with Mills non-inductive. Resistors seem to take more of a beating and if your 5B's are 2nd hand and have been even slightly abused (high volume) the resistors take the brunt of it.

Thank you for the posting. The pictures are a big help. This is my first try at reconstructing a crossover. I got these speakers for $40.00 and they sound fairly good. When I saw the caps I knew They could sound a whole lot better.Worst case I am out $100.00 best case I have a new set of speakers that should sound good.I bought a set of Polk R150 about six months back. And for the money they sounded great. So I bought a pair of LSi7 as I wanted a set of Audiophile quality speakers. Then came the sub then the monitor 5's I will only buy Polk's from here on out. Unless I build them myself. For the money Polk cannot be beat at any price point. I wish I had listened to friends back in the 80's when they said to listen to Polk's. I'll let you know how they turn out. Steve:confused:

Good luck with the rebuild and post any questions you have; I'm sure we can help. Have you decided which parts you want to use on the rebuild?
