Is the 6501 an improvment over the 6600

I haver to choose here and wonder if anyone has an answer.The 6501 seemed to replace the 6600 and 6500. Is it better. What did they do to it? Polk often talked about a new driver when it would come out. Does anyone have anything on the 6501?? It seems it was only used for about 2 years. Thanks,Keith
