I've pretty much had my heart set on a SVS sub but have also been researching others. Can anyone tell me about the MFW15 sound quality, build quality, reliability, AV123 customer service, etc? I've searched this forum and read the threads that the MFW15 is very highly regarded but the number of posts on the AV123 forum about amp issues has me concerned. Anyone know if this is a problem??? Thanks

GO to avsforum. A lot of post there on MFW15s. If product quality, reliability and customer service are important then go with SVS.

The people I know which is 2 are not happy, one has 2 of them.

The MFW was designed by Mark Seaton who is very well regarded in this industry. It is a great performer with looks to match, however I could not advise it as a smart purchase due to QC and customer service issues over the past few months at AV123.

SVS is a great choice with rock solid products and CS but also check out companies such as Elemental Designs, Epik, HSU and Ascend Acoustics for other quality subs.

Agreed, when working the MFW by all reports is a very good performer at its price. But AV123 has had all the problems mentioned. There is supposedly a silver bullet or lining to this as they have redesigned the amp and it is supposed to fix all the amp issues they had. Not sure how this would address manufacturing QC and CS though. There is also new pricing as of the last couple days that make this even more attractive. But for me until I see many many good reports I could not recommend taking the chance.

Rel, ACI, and JL Audio make excellent subwoofers. For good bang for the buck subwoofers, I find Outlaw Audio, Mirage, and Energy subwoofers to be excellent, but make sure to get the good models... some of their subwoofer models are terrible, imo.

AV123 had a major amp issue where the supplier installer low value components into them. AV123 is in the process of replacing all the warranty amps with brand new amplifiers after that they will sell more MFW-15's.

Of course, it's taking people like six months to get replacements ... ouch
