...I'm not trying to offend anyone but this is a travesty and should be exposed for the sensationalism and total disrespect that it is.

As most people know, I hunt for my own meat, and I'm proud of it. I didn't get the the top of the food chain to eat vegetables only. I think PETA means People Eating Tasty Animals.

In areas where there is a heavy population density that needs to be fed, the controlled and organized raising, feeding, and slaughtering of animals to feed the populace is an age old practice known as animal husbandry. Edible animals suitable for husbandry (chickens, turkeys, cows, pigs, etc.) are on this earth to feed man - period. They have their place in the food chain and they are not at the top - we are. End of discussion.

One big difference, we are not chickens, or cows, or anything else delicious. Why stop at animals? Vegetables are even more helpless. They have no teeth or claws. And water?! The most helpless of all. What about bacteria that give us cheese, wine, and, ohhhhh, beer? Yeah, they are pretty screwed over too. Oh, PETA, why? Why? It just boggles the mind.

Im really not sure what advocates of vegetarianism and veganism are trying to accomplish. Humans have been eating meat for milleniums, are they really trying to change the evolutionary pattern of our species? And if they are going to die, who cares what conditions they live in before the event? Do we allow death row inmates a nice night on the town, complete with a stay at a lavish hotel? No, and those are HUMANS. I'm not trying to say that there arent very good reasons that the vegetarians and vegans have for the way they live their life, but they shouldnt try to push that onto others, no one tries to shove meat down their throats.

I do not see why they try to make me feel bad for my lifestyle. It's almost like they expect me to apologize for being me.

A big BBQ'd rib-eye steak. A mammoth medium rare cheeseburger. The smell of bacon in the morning. Elk pepperoni. Cajun chicken fajitas.

Yep, I'm heading straight for the eggplant and spinach when I get home.

Did anyone read the article in the USA Today a few months back, when the school kids revolted against one of PETA's protests?
They had a guy in a cow suit, telling the kids how it was HORRIBLE that we would drink milk and treat cows like we do.
Apparently, these kids, LIKED MILK! Who would have thought that?
Anyhow, they started throwing their milk cartons at the PETA folks, and ran them off:)
Afterwards, a spokesman from PETA said that there must be something wrong with that town, for kids to act like that toward them.
They just don't get it that 98% of the USA thinks they are a bunch of whackos.

Back to what I perceive as Jstas' original point. It is an insult to compare chicken slaughters to the Holocaust.

It is so typical of these fringe groups that they start with a halfway reasonable cause (in PETA's case the slaughter of baby seals and the like for fur) and become progressively more radical until they finally lose all touch with reality.

I think PETA has just taken the final step in their journey.

PETA member Matt Prescott, the creator of the campaign, said he is Jewish and his family lost several members in **** concentration camps. He said the campaign was funded by a Jewish philanthropist who wishes to remain anonymous.
He said criticism of the project was expected.
"The fact is all animals feel pain, fear and loneliness," he said Friday. "We're asking people to recognize that what Jews and others went through in the Holocaust is what animals go through every day in factory farms."

Think so? Think again. Try domestic terrorism in the name of animal rights. PETA has ties to ELF and ALF - try arson, destruction of private property, assault, and even murder. The FBI lists eco-terrorists as THE top domestic threat to tranquility.

    Doc,
Not saying PETA is going to disappear tomorrow, just that they've gone that last step in losing touch with reality. That means that public support will wane and funds will ultimately dry up, and then they will finally wither and die some years from now. All groups that fail to compromise in the face of public opinion meet this fate.

The Sierra Club faced such a crisis years ago, when a faction within them took up tree spiking and other “eco-terrorist” tactics. After much in-fighting and political struggle, the leadership emerged that distanced the Sierra Club from these radicals, and have since even denounced their tactics. Is the Sierra Club any less activist than it was twenty years ago? Only slightly so, if at all, yet by distancing themselves from those even they consider radical, in this case the “spikers”, then to the general public they appear to be less extreme by contrast. As a result the Club survived and is still a viable, political force today with, in many ways, a broader public appeal than it enjoyed in the past.

So essentially, this philanthropist and the associated campaign creators are trying to compare animals to jews..

Taken out of context that could be rather offensive

meester, agree... I know several as well and they don't do it to save any animals other than themselves. They just believe it's a healthier lifestyle. More power to 'em, it's a tougher lifestyle in many ways. Tough to get enough protein, unless you're a tofu fanatic (ugh...).

I go veggie from time to time. Just get in the mood. Even found "Silk Vanilla" Soy milk is drinkable. My daughter put me onto to that.
