Be careful of the personal pics you post on the net

Just a heads up to those that post pics of their families on here.......you could be setting yourself up without even knowing it.
You mean like what happened here? -
If the thief left a pic, he had to print it out -- hello ppl --- they can get all the info on the thief from the pic.........
Good point and it would be easier to trace the download to a IP address in the area. Most crooks won't drive 400 miles to steal a TV.>

As far as I know only laser printers have that info, ink jets don't. And though it can link the document to the printer, you still have to find the printer before you can link it to the criminal. If the printer was never registered with the manufacturer, it won't do them any good. -
Or they could just break into a house in any nice neighborhood of
North Texas and steal a ton of stuff. What would a photo and GPS
location tell them a Lexas or BMW parked out front wouldn't?
What they would really find useful is your current work and vacation
schedule for you and your neighbors."The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbour to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg." --Thomas Jefferson -
Come and get me..................I dare any of you to take that flight. Come on............Do it!!!
Then once you get here you can stake out the place...........and afterward we can party.............

Man this thread got crazy. I thought it might be nice to make those that were not aware of the info aware. So many people visit this site that don't even know how to hook up a subwoofer let alone know about the data in pics. Heck, we could go even further and introduce stenography as well to really complicate things a little, lol.
As far as the thief using his own printer that is already ruled out. There are so many hot spots for wifi and printers galore, that it's not even funny. No way to trace that.....very easy to spoof. Hell, why not have a wardrive and see for yourself how easy it is to use others connections for less than honorable intentions. It only takes a few secs to break the wifi encryption with the right know how. Like others have mentioned, it's very easy to get ones personal info. without even trying. For example, within 10 minutes if someone wanted to, they could empty your life savings, steal your identity, open up fake accounts all over the world in your name and buy half the internet. Then at the end of the day you are responsible and will spend years clearing your name.
I realize everyone here is like family to each other for the most part and that is why I even started this thread. I had someone point out something that I missed yesterday in a post I made so I thought I would make those that were not aware of this, aware. Back to the normal chaos.:D -
You guys could give someone a serious case of panphobia. lol
