Anyone interested in a pure CD transport?

This means you will need to provide your own DAC.

Little Dot CDP_I CD transport

$289 + shipping. I think it will be cool to have one connected to my Entech Number Cruncher DAC.

    That's true....didn't realize it doesn't come with a remote.

Really....how much can a transport contribute to achieving good sound quality?

Its mostly a jitter thing. If your DAC's input reciever is good at attenuating jitter then the transport will not be as important as long as it can send the bits error free to the DAC.If the DAC is not good at jitter reduction then a transport with low jitter levels would be desirable.

Very interesting! A reasonably priced CD transport is something I've been waiting for. If it had a remote I would be ordering one to try.

I was poking around on the Little Dot site a few weeks ago and saw the announcement for this. They seem to make very nice, reasonably priced products. I wouldn't hesitate if it had a remote. Not sure how the focus group info omitted the remote. I'd never buy a TV w/o remote same goes for a cdp or dvdp.

They have a nice "budget" dac in the same style case to go along with this.

Funny. Looks like this manufacture lost about 8 sales right off the bat in this one thread just by omitting a remote.

Silly. How do you leave out such a simple function.

The only thing I can think of is Little Dot is primarily for headphone users. Maybe they thought most of the sales would be for headphone rigs and generally you're within an arms reach if your running headphones. Most head amps don;t have a remote control either like a typical AVR does.

That's the only reason I can think of to not include it (keeps the price down for the primary audience)

The link didnt work for me. No remote would rule it out for me also. I have used a couple of different transports with my Twisted Pear Audio Buffalo dac. They will sound different. I didnt think there was much difference at first but after using a couple of sonys, a philips, my computer via terratec sound card and an esoteric as transports there are differences. I can use spdif or toslink into the Buffalo and the spdif is better. Bass response is where I have noticed as the biggest differences. The esoteric will bring out the drums, bass guitars and foot stomps like no other. Like always, until I had a chance to compare, I didnt think there would be much difference. I will find a better transport sometime as the esoteric has issues. There arent many choices of transports <$1000.
