BluRay Player...

Yup... I think I need a standalone BluRay player. Must have the ability to output HD Audio as that is the only reason I want it :)

Anybody have one they are willing to part with, or know of a killer deal? Prefer under $500.

Thanks!

If the player can process the audio, it can send it via HDMI. This is what the PS3 does... this is what the current players do. (mine included) The receiver doesn't also need the capability.

Please be realistic. How can it be sooo much better than everything else? Will it be better than el-cheapo bluray players? Sure. But will it be better than the players in its own price bracket? Maybe in some areas.

I do realize that a lot of people swear by their Oppos and would not buy anything else. But I also know a lot of people who love their Pioneers, Sonys, etc. Until we will get *objective* head to head reviews, we will not know what's so "special" about those Oppos.

So is the pioneer for sale a solid player as well or is this oppo going to be a much better deal? Sorry I know nothing about stand alone players yet!

Here is a nice Denon for $319.82 as an open box.

Looks like a great deal, but I have not checked out any reviews of this Denon.

That Samsung mentioned is a great deal, and at $200 it is about $20 under a dealers cost. He says it is new, too. That BDP-1600 model also has the Netflix & Pandora option. Pretty good deal really.

Hmmm.. It looks like I will need the BDP-3600 instead of the 1600, if I went with the sammy. Bummer. Gotta have that 7.1 analog hookup ability, not just HDMI.

what you're not getting is his receiver doesn't have HDMI inputs; let alone any sort of HD audio codecs. Hence why he's looking for something with analog audio outs with internal processing. New BD player is cheaper than a new receiver!
