Well I finally got my SDA 2a today that I won off Ebay a couple weeks ago for a cool $199.:D

I got them out of the boxes and the speakers put back in place. I must say I'm very pleased with the way the seller boxed these up. He took all the speakers out and packaged them very well to avoid any possible damage as well as labeled everything so it was dummy proof to put them back together.

For 20 year old speakers they are in very good shape, just some nicks and a little peeling on a couple corners. All the drivers look in great shape too, they did come with the SL2000 tweeters and the blade/blade interconnect so I guess they are the 2A. Going to fire them up in a bit but first, here are some pics.

Wife has the good camera so all you get is blackberry pictures.:(

I just went through three songs, "Hotel Cali" by Eagles, Dire Straights "Money for Nothing", and the first song on the Focal JM labs demo disc. They are just like I remember them some 18-19 years ago!!

I set the H/K AVR 330 to large and powered up the Emotiva LPA-1. The left speaker is a little cramp in the corner but I do have them about 6 1/2' apart and just over a foot from the front wall. It amazes me the amount of bass they can put out, more than my JBL's which have two-10" woofers. I really have no need for a sub in that small room. The SL2000 tweeters were great, right now I don't see me replacing them anytime soon. The mids, well the mids were down right the best I've heard in my house, exceptional is a good descriptor.

I think I may get some type of restorer for the finish and line the inside of the cabinets with some peel 'n seal and that's it.....for now.;)

...and yes the LPA-1 will be replace with a two-channel amp here soon, just haven't decided on what yet.

Congrats Matt. I used to own a pair of those myself. Believe me, you will not be disappointed. I was always amazed at the bass those guys put out without sacrificing anything up top!

    Nice set up....

Can't wait to get my hands on my set...bought a while back but not able to pick up till June.

Are you saying that the SDAs are putting out more bass than 2 JBL subs? Is that what you have between the SDAs? Excuse me if I'm being dense because that seems to be what you're saying.

    Enjoy your tunes!

No, sorry about that. I have two JBL 310ii floor standing speakers that have 2x10" woofer/ea and the SDA's put them to shame. The two subs in between the SDA in the last picture are DIY sealed subs with Rythmic Audio 12" drivers, they are not in use.

    Matt,
It looks like the seller was careful in how they shipped those to you. Thoughtful cat whoever it was.
I am concerned that you are putting the horse before the cart on this one however. I think your main concern would be to get a larger screen for your home theater. I think that LCD you have is a little on the small side, unless you are only two feet tall and myopic. If that is the case, have at it.:D
Your photos are blurry and I can't tell what that big white painting on the wall is, but I think you could get by with a projection screen.
Joking of course, congrats on the SDA's, I am envious.
    Happy trails,

I have since sold the projector and repainted the room as we are selling the house. The DIY screen is permanently fixed to the wall. The monitor is just there to browse the music collection on Itunes.

I'll back up the great low-end on the 2's. I was going to use a sub for my 2's but that was quickly shot down when I set them and ran some juice to 'em. I'll be seeing ya soon, C!
Great grab Matt and may they give you many years of bliss.
