    If I ever went passive again, it would be another Placette. The level control in the Placette is the real winner---absolute linearity, at any setting.

    At first I thought "a thousand bucks for this thing? You gotta be kidding." After I bit the bullet and bought/listened to one, that changed to "only a thousand bucks for this thing? You gotta be kidding."

    Seriously.

    The one pictured above is 10k, I'm not sure what my others are.

    Would replacing the volume pot in my B1 be as simple as replacing it with a stepped attenuator of similar ohm rating?
