Thunderstorms

Hanging out on the front porch, with my laptop and a beer... watching a thunderstorm roll in. Only thing that could make this better is if I didn't live in town. I can't get any good pictures now that I'm in town.

Here's one of my better ones -

A little over exposed, but that happens some times when you're using a 16 second shutter to try to catch the shot.
Ludicrous gibs!

the one I wrote about in the first post was a bust. Just a quick clipper that missed us for the most part. Enough rain to wet the sidewalks, but that's about it. I'm a thunderstorm junky... I've even been known to chase good ones every once and a while... but even that isn't as straightforward of a proposition as it is in the midwest. Too many hills and back roads to be really efficient :)

Scratch that, I'm a weather junky in general. I watch the radar any day that storms are called for. I've always loved when storms roll through. Even living out in the middle of nowhere, where a storm can mean serious business and disrupt life for a few hours, at least. Many a time I've spent an entire day without power (and therefore, water, for those who've never lived with a personal well)... but I freakin love it. I'm counting the years 'til I can get out of this place and afford a place out in the country. Now, to get those CC bills paid off, and a few more years on the house, and I should be okay to sell this place.

nice pics. Our monsoon season is about a month away, and I also like sitting out under my patio cover watching the storms...That is until the lightning starts hitting in our neighborhood.
My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself.

eh, i remember growing up as a kid here in tucson and it wasn't as much the lightning and thunder right above your head but the winds that most of the time came with them. that's about the closest we come to tornados and hurricanes.

Without a doubt, thunderstorms are the main thing I miss about the East Coast. I loved those storms during the summer. The power is overwhelming, and the ozone afterwards seems to be energizing. Plus the humidity is gone for a while after they pass through.
