Githens Report
Its time to give some kind of formal report so here goes:
The new playground equipment, playground surface, concrete sidewalks, concrete access ramp from the building to the sidewalk, are all done. It is a real honey of a job, and a big improvement over what they had. I wasnt supposed to know about the completion, so I guess therell be some kind of formal unveiling/opening somewhere soon, that was supposed to be a surprise for me/us. How can I not see the progress when I go there to drop off checks all the time? Anyhow, there is a lot to be happy for there, and I KNOW, that between the two forums, Polk and AK, we paid for the entire thing. They told me it would cost $27-$31k, and I know that over the last three and a half years weve donated that to Githens. So, I thank you deeply. Pictures will be forthcoming.
Money/donation report to date for the calendar year 09 for both forums is:
About $612 in checks directly made out to Githens, and hand-delivered to Githens.
About $580 in checks made out to me, deposited in the account I give them their Christmas gift from. Whatever is in that account around early December, goes to them. Last year it was $2,100. It will never be less than a $1,000 gift. When you consider this years donations only reflect the last two months or so, you can see what a full year usually yields.
OK. Now the kind of bad news. Writing checks directly to Githens is a privilege that I offered to entice people to buy these albums, as it is a tax write-off for that individual. The privilege has been abused by individuals from both forums, and as a result, if I cant offer it to everyone, I wont offer it any longer to anyone. The problem is both an ethical and financial burden on me that I wont bear any longer. Im sorry. From this point on, all checks will please be made out to me. I will deposit all funds in the Christmas account, pay the operating costs from same account, and give the balance to Githens at Christmas. Sorry, but it has to be this way.
