There is a review of this awesome piece of awesomeness in the latest Stereophile magazine. Looks like a pretty cool amp!

This has got to be an SS amp.

The picture on MF's web page is much more flattering than the one in Stereophile.

Looks like the Beast Master to me.

Mikey likes it so it must be good. It would be interesting to hear this with the Maxx 3's at live performace levels.

Actually, it is a 3 piece beast. The power supply is 150lbs and each channel is an additional 100 pounds. That is a 350lb amp! Shipping charges alone are probably as much as a standard amplifier costs. What I liked (written in stereophile) was that they say the sound is still very nice at low levels.

Its a two chassis design; Power Supply @ 150 lbs and the Amplifier @ 99 lbs. The Amplifier chassis includes both channels. The Power Supply module has two 3kVA toroidal transformers; one for each channel!!

$30,000.00. I read the review in Stereophile this morning. Sounds like a lotta amp and when they compared it to other amps like Bolder it actually was cheaper per watt as a comparison.

I like the look of it. I think it has a companion Pre also.

Throw a couple of blue meters on it & it might give Mac a run for it's money. It does seem like one serious amp though.

Another salient point by Keiko... I think I would give the upper hand to my old hitachi boom box in a side by side test against this amp. It will blow the doors off that beast.:p

That would be a definate NO.It's about as different designwise as you could get with SS vs ICE.

Mac has twice as much power at 8ohms.

    I'd rather have the MF.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Unless I needed a stupid amount of watts, I wouldn't want either.

Yeah, but look at the 4 and 2 ohm ratings. The MF has 3800 watts at 2 ohms. Of course only the first few watts are all that matter anyway.

Hmmm....it's interesting that it stays at 2000wpc at 8,4 or 2 ohms. I don't believe I've seen that spec before.

Likely something to do with their using an autoformer at the output.

    Yeppers.

The 7270 I have here is rated at 270wpc at 8, 4, 2, and 1ohm due to it's autoformers. Many also believe Mac's sound warm or tube like due to having autoformers. It's possible since their HT amps do not have autoformers and are more forward sounding. I've never heard a pair(that I know of), but aren't OTL amps more forward or transparent compared to a traditional tube amp?

I have to correct myself. They compared it to a Luxman M800A Stereo amplifier. "Considering that, for less than twice the Luxman's price, the Titan delivers well in excess of 16 times as much power into 8 and 4 ohms, it should be considered a power bargain!"

Me, at less than the cost of the Titan I will stick with my '05 F150.
