Gents, Memorial Day for the past 30 years has had a special meaning to me. I'm a 21 year vet who seen the the hostages taken in Iran and did plenty of time in country during the first Gulf War.

I do not seek accolades for my service. It was my pleasure and honor to serve my country and fellow citizens. I believe my contibution to this country is insignificant compared to my brothers in arms who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we may have the life we do.

To all of you who have served, sacrificed and offered your sweat and blood for us, I salute you, no matter what service you may have been in. To me, you are special people to whom I owe an unpayable debt.

Well said indeed. It's a shame too many of us take this holiday and our life in this great country for granted. I for one will take more than just a fleeting moment to give thanks just as I do most days.

There should be a memorial for all those that we have lost as well as those that still serve in every state in america. The cost of doing so is insignificant compared to what the state spends countless citizens tax dollars on. I would really like to see politicians that truly love their country and stand by it. Now I am getting pissed off about these piece of ****.

Memorial day should be a day of thank you's and remembrance not a day to legally have off of work.

    Ditto.

We get to do things like Club Polk and many, many other things that we take for granted because of the sacrifices made on our behalf.
