Is there a serial number/model number database?

I'm trying to figure out if I have 10A's or 10B's. There's no external fuse on the back and the tweeters are all black. I know the tweeters are different from my 4's, but I wish I knew if they were SL1000, 2000, etc.

Well, the (tweeters) are like NEITHER picture (although your pictures look the same): the coils go more horizontal, not angled down. I don't want to pull the tweeter; with my luck it will slip out of my hand and there goes the dome. I must have a 10B with some later model tweeter, although I remember replacing one of them years ago (like the late 80's) and all four match.

That's an SL2000. You might consider upgrading to the RD0-194-1 silk dome replacement tweeters from Polk. They are sweeter and much smoother.

    Oh yeah, those are 10B's.

That is a cool question. Most SNs follow a sequence of some sort. If enough original owners post when bought and the SNs then a database of ranges (if Polk is not talking) can be framed.

Theoretically, they should have a database of every speaker (serial number) that went out along with what kind of tweeters, drivers, etc. were in them. But I have no idea how sophisticated their shipping & tracking was back when

It doesn't exist and wouldn't be available if it was....enjoy your loudspeakers.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

apparently Polk wasn't that worried about keeping track of their loudspeakers. It wouldn't have been that hard, even back then, to keep track of the serials.
    Ludicrous gibs!
