I'm pissed, I make 2 VERY freindly and uncondiscating posts, and I'm red flagged. Gonna stick to my guns though, GOD bless all who have made this a holiday. Whoever reported me, for whatever reason, you know who you are, are you that bitter?
No need to get pissed Jr. I get flagged quite often. This may be only a slight glitch in the mod messaging set up. Easy there, Bwaana...

And I stand by my posts with conviction. It's BS though when you consider some of the crap these trolls have left floating around here lately. Have infractions been handed out to them also?

As I do and no, they have not.

    WTH!!!

I think he is using the same context for polk speakers (even though nice and a good value) that is used for Emotiva. That is simply using price basis for discrediting said product.

Hense Emo isn't this or that because Emo's 3 channel amp is $599 when a Rotel/ATI/B&K would be $1500 or $3000.

Like saying a LSi9 isn't a serious speaker because we all know that serious speakers cost $7500-$10,000.

Why you couldn't see the point being made says a lot.

    Interesting...

I don't think Keiko is exactly what most people here would consider a troll.

He's actually a valued forum member. He's given people lots of valuable advice, myself included. I've also seen him put up numerous Karma's since I've been here. I fail to see how Keiko is a troll.

You've already made it a point that you're ignorant. But do what ya gotta do.

From what I have seen your one of the more abusive people on this board. The fact is that one of the usual suspects started the derailment of this thread on page one. How have you contributed materially to the original topic in this thread?

I find it funny that Matt makes a perfectly salient point and that the some of the seasoned veterans didn't get it. It's sad that the seasoned veterans here decided to take another OP about an Emotiva product and derail it. It's a recurring theme around here with certain Polksters and Emotiva. They have an axe to grind but no actual honest to god proof that they can grind it with.

I would contribute more by correcting your vocabulary, but that would be useless.

I've never seen nothing from you anywhere that contributed anything to this forum. So, are you finished trolling now?

LOL, I believe you truly have no bounds. The post/link that you are referring to is exactly your trolling I am talking about.

You have a participant looking at a sub $800 amp. You post a link to an amp that is probably north of $10K as your contribution to the thread?

Before you attempt to work on any one's vocabulary you might want to get your foot out of your mouth.

I have seen this (Ricardo's Emotiva story)

but stopped reading after I saw that it had 1,200 replies.

and now you know what 1,995 of those replies were like so you didn't miss much. Unfortunately probably only learned very little as well. Such a shame for a good forum like this.

    Curt's right. Cool it BOYS!

And as an addition here. Why is it that everything Emotiva makes is powered by a toroid of some kind? I've heard that it's DAMN hard to wind a good toroid...and therefore NOT ALL toroids are 'alike'; simply having a toroid doesn't necessarily mean anything. It's the quality of the unit that's important. But toroids denote power and better gear symbolically. So their use is strategic by some manufacturers.

Now the question for the experts here, is what's an Emo toroid worth? And why?
    Ok, take it guys?

The difference between Polk and Emotiva is simple.

Polk does not describe their product for being more than what it really is.

I will never buy Emotiva simply on this fact. Outlaw is a far better representation of how a company in their market segment should carry theirself.

They are great products at great prices. But hardly "reference gear"

No snob here, I just like good gear - and none of my gear is considered reference...

Keiko is a stand-up guy and has my respect and that of nearly the entire Polk community. What do you have? And trust me when I say whatever you thought you had before has faded to nothing. Hey guys; I've been talking about it for ages, but I think it's finally time to upgrade to an external amp just to see what all the rage is about.

As you might be able to tell, I've been contemplating getting an Emotiva for some time, but I'm not convinced dropping money on an external amplifier is a good idea, unless I'm sure the outcome is worth the money.

For what its worth, I am in a similar situation, JL88. I currently run 4 LSi15s and an LSiC off of a H/K AVR 525. Never clipped - sounds good. Some contributors on these message boards will swear to high heaven that the LSi speakers open up with (bell please) a mimimum of 200 wpc. Others on these boards might say "If it sounds good, then why add the additional amplification?"

Well, you don't know till you try. And thats where the Emotiva comes in. It supplies the power, even if it isn't as "refined" as a mainstream name-brand. And with a low price point, the risk is minimized in the event that you haven't gained any improvement (even less if you consider that you can return it - as much of a hassle that is).

    Is an amp snake oil?
Is an amp a marginal improvement over existing amplification?
Is an amp significant improvement over existing amplification?
Or is an amp audio bliss?

In short, I don't think there is a reason to talk you out of an Emotive. In fact, I'd like you to take the plunge then report back how it faired. Your report would definately go a long way to my decision making.
Do you hear that buzzing noise?

The XPA-5 is one heck of an amp. Outlaw and other companies should be scared. Very scared...:D It doesn't weigh 75 lbs for nothing. You'll probably never see it reviewed in stereosnob, because it's below 3 grand....But it can compete with those. I think that's why people talk bad about Emotiva, because they can compete for such a low price.
