I am looking at getting one of these maybe in the next few days and was wondering if anyone has had any exp with the Rotel, both about the same power, but the Rotel is still new never been used in the box for 450. and the adcom is 375 but about 9 years of use on it.

Thank you!

$375 is a little too high for the 555.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks
    Ben

The Rotel seems to average for about $400 give or take $50. The Adcom averages for $325 give or take $25.

It's common ground, I have done all the leg work on the Rotel amps that i have looked at and that is one of them. I actually called Rotel and talked to them about a few amps. I really want to hear the RB-1090  $$$$$ it sounds bad **** but i have read up and down reviews.

I haven’t had a 990BX but if it sounds anything like the Rotel RB1080 that I did have; I can say it will sound a fair bit different from a GFA 555. If you can, try to listen to both and see what you prefer. I would go with the Adcom, however that is a case of personal preference. Good luck.

Great choice on the Rotel....no slight on the Adcom, but it fits the bill better.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    Tool,

Is the 1090 common ground? I want to make sure because I may have a line on one.

I had a Rotel 990 in my system for a number of years, I feel it was an outstanding value new and even better value at today's prices. To my knowledge the 1090 is actually little different internally from the 990, most of the difference is the cosmetic fins and such externally.

I compared the 990 to the 980 (again, similar to the 1080). The sound was quite similar (not surprisingly), but the 990 just had a little more "there" to the sound, slightly fuller and more dynamic, which I attributed to the greater headroom of the 990.

Thank you! the 990 was in Aurora and the other two came from ft Collins and here in Loveland, I really like the way it sounds, nice full bass and clear highs.:D
