I emailed you to talk about a deal on these drivers...
-
Should be a done deal.... email is off and I think price is agreed. Don't want to jump the gun, but I consider these sold.
-
Hmm, might we see some home grown Monitor 8's in the not so distant future?Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service.

Nope... but you might see a home-grown MTM center channel, using an RTA 8 crossover, assuming I can figure out a way to get around the drivers being nonshielded (like a shelf over the TV).
I'll be two 6502s short of a pair of RTA8s... -
Burdette, I have some 6502 if you need? They beve been in storage since I rebuilt my 8T's. They worked fine but I just wanted all new components.

Awesome.
I'll post some pics of the JBL FR project on your KLH rebuild thread. The wife took over for the time being, and trimmed gaskets, and mounted the drivers.
Cheers,

Dammit... you guys are NOT helping my financial or marital situation here... first Russ puts up crossovers with big coils and electrolytic capacitors... then a pair of SL2000s show up, THEN a pair of 6502s, and now *another* pair of 6502s. Remember when Kathy Lee Gifford hired that hooker to try to seduce her husband?? Did my wife put you guys up to trying to sell me this stuff??
Well, HBomb... I mean, how could I *not* be interested.. but... gosh darn you guys.. all right... no committments here.. but how much do you want for your two 6502s?
I may be getting my sonotube tomorrow, if my co-worker can find some time so we can use his truck.
Edit: Hbomb, when did you get DUAL SVS subs? I must've missed the jumping-for-joy posts that you undoubtedly put up, or else I've just forgotten. My mind could very well be going, given how freely I've been buying a shitload of *very* questionably needed audio stuff this year..... -
I have 4, I believe but I'll pull the boxes when I get home... I'll give ya all four then you take the 2 you like and let me know what you'll pay for them. To help matters on the WAF side you don't have to pay me right away.
HBomb***WAREMTAE*** -
Appreciate the offer, Hbomb. But as much as I appreciate it, there is no reason to 1) give me all 4 and let me choose (because if I can justify the purchase, I'll take the two you give me); or 2) Give me time to pay (I always pay my way as I go, so having money in hand to hand to you is a given.) I do appreciate the consideration though... that old "buddy" system each guy grows and nurtures in high school and college lives on!
If my wife is going to be .. uh.. unpleased about it, it won't matter when I pay. The point won't be immediate cash flow, the point will be that I've - in the not-so-distant past - either politely or not-so-politely jumped on her about some of the **** she spends money on, and how it looks for me to be buying completely unneeded stuff coincidentally to said jumping.
I will get back to you on this. I just finalized the deals today on the other pair of 6502s and the pair of SL2000s, so I have to go buy two money orders tomorrow. Let me catch my financial breath. Also took the car in today for a $70 brake job, and they couldn't turn the rotors anymore, so it turned into a $200 brake job.
Did you swap out components just for kicks and giggles, or did you have a blown driver and just wanted to maintain consistency?
Thanks again. -

Nothing blown... just wanted the consistancy of a fresh build through and through.
Let me know. I think we'll be able to save some shipping and handling?

Not that there are any issues here, but I'll vouch for both Henry and Mark. Excellent follow through (and nice guys to boot), I would not hesitate to ship before payment with these two.

I just pulled the boxes out of boxes and have popcorn EVERYWHERE!!! anywho these are the 6510 for the 8T's... not the 02's.
let me know!
HBomb***WAREMTAE*** -
Anyone know the difference between the 6510 and the 6502?
Hbomb, I will get back to you. Thanks for the consideration. If these won't essentially drop into a crossover built for the 6502, or if I can't 1) find out how to change the xover so it will work and if I can 2) afford to do that, then I don't need these. -
Impedance maybe? The Mon 8 / RTA 8 came with 6510's.

I sent you an email on this.. but are you saying that the speakers you dismantled, the ones containing the crossovers I bought from you, used 6510 drivers? Polk sent me the schematic of that crossover and I'm *almost* sure it showed one SL2000 and dual 6502s as the drivers. That is what sparked my interest in the 6502s for sale in the first place.
If it did indeed use 6510, then the 6502s I already bought will have to be used as future replacements for my Monitor 7Cs and 5jr+, and then I really DO need Hbomb's drivers.
Also.. I can't find the RTA 8 on Polk's list of old (recent or vintage) speakers.. I've also noticed several of the older speakers don't have photos posted... huh. -
Hey Hbomb.. are the 6.5" drivers you have shielded??
-
6510's, 2 per speaker, from 'Polk Monitor Series 8T' cabs.
You can always epoxy a bucking mag to the back, shield em' yourself.

NO I don't think so. I keep the 8T's about 6Ft away from the TV just to be on the safe side.

There is soft shielding, and there is hard shielding. Soft is a bucking mag.. it'll help a little, get you a little closer. Hard shielding includes the metal cup, which enables it to sit right on the TV.
I didn't really know how much of an effect there was, but I have a Boston 6.5" "subwoofer" driver from a crapped out bandpass 3-piece PC setup. This driver is cupped and shows just about zero magnetic properties .. can hardly get the dang thing to stick to metal even.
The solution will be to sit the center on a shelf, I think. Or, if it works out that I get/take all four 6510s... I think I'll have to turn it all into another pair of 'mains'. -

If you want them you got them... NO pressure.
