One more time DSW Pro 500 or MicroPro1000?

I've been saving my pennies and right now there are a couple of sales going on. Basically I could get either a DSW Pro 500 or a MicroPro 1000 to shipped to my house for around $400. I've read dozens of reviews and they haven't helped me at all. Someone started a similar thread here months ago, but never came back with their decision or why. I like the idea of the MicroPro, but several people have complained that it did not provide the power of their 500. So what are the selling points of one over the other?
Right now I just have a PSW10 and I really want something that is going to reach deeper, yet still do well with music. The last time I asked the suggestion of a PSW505 came up and they are still cheap, but the small price upgrade to the DSW line seems like it would be worthwhile. Thoughts? Should I pull the trigger now or keep saving my pennies.

For music I'd get the micropro 1000 and for HT I'd get the DSW 500. If you save a little longer you should get the Micropro 4000 and that'll be good for both music and HT

Unfortunately I think the Micropro 4000 will be out of my price range any time in the near future. At the rate the spare pennies come in and the price of the 4000's that would put me having the money sometime in October. I'm really leaning towards the 1000 right now, but by tomorrow afternoon I'll probably swing back around.

Ended up grabbing a DSW Pro 600. The $100 coupon at Amazon combined with a gift card I had laying around brought it down to a very reasonable price tag. I would have liked to be able to go with the MicroPro line because of the smaller size, but I wanted the thump for my summer movie viewing. So I didn't want to wait til late fall to have the money together.
Now I need to figure out a good cross over setting. My Denon wants to set it for 40, but since my TSi400's only go down to 44 Hz at -3 db, that seems a bit low. -
Good choice depending on what your final price was. The 600 is a bit better than the 505. And a better all-arounder than the entry MicroPro...which can't dig as deep on the low end. But may be better for music. Oh, excuse me...you have the 500!
Of course the Velodyne DLS3750R might be a better sub in that price range...after all Polk designed the 500 to pretty much 'compete' with that! Did they succeed? That is the question! How about a 'review' when you get that set up Dan!
Standard crossover for most subs is 80hz. Lot's of people recommend setting all speakers to 'small' and letting the 'sub' take the LFE burden, freeing up more power for all the other speakers from the Denon. You can try experimenting with that. At 80 or below...very little is localizable.
I wouldn't even recommend crossing 400s at 60hz. Perhaps one might consider that with M70s or 500s?

No you were right the first time. I grabbed the DSW Pro 600. Electronic Expo had the 500's on sale for around $429 after shipping. The coupon brought the DSW Pro 600 down to $499 with free shipping, I had it over night for $4.
I really can't say too much yet. I had The Other One and Rhythm Devils giving it a work out earlier and it performed admirably. Visions of a long ago summer night at Hampton danced in my head. It blends very nicely with the 400's and really fills out the lows. So far I'm happy and eagerly anticipating finding it's sweet spot and getting it broken in.
As to the cross over... 40Hz is what the Audessey setup keeps deciding it should be. So far I've experimented with both 60 and 80, just haven't made the call on which I prefer. I also have all of my speakers set to small and the 600 is connected to the LFE port. About the only thing I am certain of so far, is that it's not in it's final resting spot. -
Did you try the cheaters way to pick a sub spot?
If the sub cable is long enough. Put the sub in the spot where you sit. Walk around the room and see where you hear the best BASS. That spot should be your sub's resting place.
Good Luck! Audessey on Denons (I have one) can be a bit of a pain and can produce errors...sometimes requires a few tries and even then I prefer to set up 'manually' myself.

I'm hoping to find a location that works for both acoustics and marital bliss
Do you use SW + Main on your setup? Any reason not to other than taste? -

I know what you mean Dan!
If you mean do I use the sub in stereo with the M70s? No....most of the time for music....because I have the Adcom Amp hooked to those and my Denon has a pure audio feature. So I run them without the sub except in HT where you've got to have the sub. That way I limit any extra processing on the Denon except the AL24 processing plus wave smoothing for digital 2 channel sound! And let the Adcom GFA-555 do its thing! I think Denon's make pretty good pre/pros! Fairly neutral, a bit warm.
