Hi Folk's,
I came accross a pair of SDA SRS 1.2TL's for sale in the St. Louis Craig's list for $2900. I'm just passing along the find in case someone is interested. I have no affiliation to this owner.
Here's the link: http://stlouis.craigslist.org/ele/1169703765.html

If you are interested, good luck!

I noticed that too. Perhaps it blew and was replaced with a Polk replacement.

That price is waaaaay too high though.

I was wondering why you think the price is not too high. Is it because of the condition or rarity of the speakers. The reason I am asking is because I recently purchases a mint SDA SRS set from the original owner for twelve hundred dollars. There are not the TL's but for that type of money I felt I got a good deal. What do you think?

I paid $1250 for the 1.2's, And i am investing about $800 in crossover and RDO198 upgrades to basically be 1.2tl's. so thats getting close to the $2500 he is asking. Personaly i think i would rather have the upgrades that i am doing. But since i cannot do a side by side comparison i really cannot say wether or not the price is to high + i am sure he would take less.

F1 I would also like to know why you don't think the price is to high. considering they seem to have all original tweets, drivers and crossovers and are 20 years old.

I just happen to stumble across these on Craig's List and thought I'd pass it along. Interesting comments about the pricing but at point in time the price is out of my league.
Just curious, what is the Dreadnaught AI-1 interconnect worth if you had to buy or build one?

Depends how expensive you want to go but figure at least 120 dollars as the Avel transformer cost that much about a year ago...haven't checked their prices lately.

That's about right in the middle for SDA SRS's. The 1.2TL's generally range from $2200.00 to $3000.00. Sure you'll find a few cheaper like the ones Sal bought for $650.00, but they were completely fubared mechanically and cosmetically.

Seems to me they usually went in the $2000-2500 range a year or two ago, although I've seen a pair or two hit $3000+ on eBay.

I have seen them sell for as high as $3500.00 without upgrades of any kind so as Jesse said $2900.00 isnt too high in the sense that people will pay that kind of money for them, even though that may be more than what you have seen them sell for recently, and in my humble oppinion there isnt many speakers that sell in the 2k-3k range that will compare in sound quality.

Just because someone seen a pair sell for $1500 or $2000 is no indication that is all there worth, there worth what someone will pay simple as that.

Very very few speakers have ever retained as much of there retail value as the large SDA's have and do. Most continue to drop until they reach a point far below there original retail price tag and never make it back up to even half.

I may have the record for paying the least for a pair $600.00 of course mine were not in mint condition but overall very respectable, In fact when I bought them I had no idea what they were other than some damn big polks.

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

I'm don't remember if they were 1.2TLs or just SRSes, but there was a guy who sold a pair for $100 on Craigslist because no one responded to his ad at something like $500.

Do you know the guy who got them for that? All I can say is if it actually happened which of course is certainly possible is that the seller was a fool :D

First off, I do not have any experiences hearing an sda with the mods. To be quite frank, I've auditioned a pair of 1.2's back in the 80s' when I purchased my 1as' and they were absolutely stunning.
As for the price, I believe in one sense its irrelevant. If I had the money I'd buy them at $3000 but at this moment couldn't do it if the price was $1500. However, six months from now that could change. Basically the price is set by us and timing. He could get lucky or he will be hanging on to them for awhile.
All that being said, I do believe $ 3000 is a bit too greedy.
