any opinions or reviews the onkyo thx 803

hey guys can anyone give me feedback on onkyo 803 problems , strengths ,weakness and is ok that it passes all hd sound formats thru hdmi as my pany blu-ray 10A does the intrnal decoding im getting true hd sound from this set up?

Here are a few reviews I could find on the web quick, seems to be a pretty solid unit. I own an 806 and it is IMO is an amazing unit.HT Rig

That's a fine unit...the question is if those HDMIs can pass decoded LPCM from your Blu-ray. If you have your manual you should be able to find that out. If not download it from Onkyousa.com

it seems to pass thru ok on the front disply it reads multichannel i think i hear the difference it does this for true hd dts hd dolby plus etc

I didn't think the 803 did the newer codecs it is a few years old and before the codecs were "popular" or is just being "passed through" by his source? Man I am an idiot, lol.HT Rig

thats good to know cnh thanks , the 803 is advanced enough to pass these newer formats WOO HOO! thats what im talking about !

I think the 803 can pass decoded Tru-HD formats as LPCM. You only need HDMI 1.1 to do that! Also, if your player has analog multi-channel out, the Onkyo and lots of other OLDER receivers can receive the decoded sound into analog format if they have multi-channel ins...so you can still get that sound through your receiver!
I run a PS3 through a Denon AVR 2807 with HDMI 1.1 and it works fine on Blu-rays.
