Miles Davis Kind of Blue (Legacy Edition)

Any Miles' fans out there?
I just received Kind of Blue Legacy Edition (2009) in today's mail. Though I had the original KoB single-disc remaster (1997) which had very good sound, I decided to splurge ($14.99 from Amazon) for this release, which commemorates the 50th year anniversary of KoB.
The sound compared to the original remaster is slightly improved (trumpet seems less harsh), but I bought this mostly for the second disc, which includes 4 tunes recorded in 1958: On Green Dolphin Street, Fran-Dance, Stella by Starlight, Love for Sale plus a jammin 17-minute live version of So What from 1960.
Aside from the original Kind of Blue album, my favorite Miles album is a little known and much underrated compilation called "'58 Sessions". It includes the aforementioned four tunes from the second disc plus versions of the Monk tune, Straight No Chaser, My Funny Valentine and Oleo (I wish they had included these 3 tunes as well!). And the sound is much improved on the Legacy Edition. I just wish they had included the other 3 tunes as well.
If you are a fan of the '58-'59 Miles Davis sound & line-up (Davis, Cannonball, Coltrane, Bill Evans, Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb), its well worth a Hamilton and a Lincoln. It also includes nice 18-page booklet with black-and-white photos from the legendary recording sessions.

Thanks for the info Norm. My KoB 1997 disc skips so was going to replace it soon - didn't realize a newer version was out.
As a side note, my wife and I saw Jimmy Cobb's band play in NYC in March. The venue was a small intimate place called The Smoke Jazz and Supper Club on the Upper West side. These guys brought the house down. They played for an hour an basically jammed the whole time. It was incredible. This was as good as it gets.

I've got Kind of Blue of Columbia vinyl. A second edition but it sounds fantastic. Love Miles. I'll have to check out 58 Sessions. Never heard it but will on your review. Thanks.SDA-1C (full mods)
