how do hook-up power amp to onkyo 803

hey all, i have a n onkyo 803 7.1 avr im thinking of getting an onkyo power amp to use as a seperate to power maybe my center or back surrounds which would benifit more from this and how do i hook all this up ? anyone have a diagram i can follow thank you my polk fellows POLK IS AWESOME POLK RULES!

    you would be better off using a seperate amp on your center and your left/right and you can let the amp in the 803 power your rears.

    If you get a 5 or 7 channel amp then don't use the onkyo at all. A good seperat amp to start with would be Emovita or Outlaw. If you have more money to spend you should think about B&K, Rotel and Sunfire. It depends on your $$$.

    Forgot to tell you how to do this. It is easy. Just buy 3 or 4 sets of good rca cables. run them from the pre out on the back of your avr to the input of the amp. If you want color coded cables go to Blue Jeans cables and I think they have color coded ends to keep everything straight.

    I second T..03's suggestions above.

    The 803 should be able to run your surrounds. Get a 3 channel power amp. What you will do is run RCA cables from the Onkyos Pre-outs Left/Center/Right channels to the appropriate RCA ins on the power amp, you will wire your Left-Center-Right speakers directly to the power amp and the Onkyo will control the volume and equalizing functions, etc. This assumes your surround speakers are 6-8 ohm impedance loads. If they are 4 ohms or less you'll need amplification for all speakers!

    Currently if I'm not mistaken, one of our members is selling a nice 3 channel Aragon amp that would do you fine. Look through the threads or use the search function to see if that amp is still for sale.

    Don't know that....it's an older model...might be OK if we knew what it puts out per channel...8 ohm, 4 ohm, 2 ohm? No specs on ebay site. Maybe you could ask the seller!

    Or someone else here knows???

    hey cnh iwas checking into it someone said he had one and it worked good until he plugged some klipsh speakers rated at 6ohm an the amp circuit protection went on and it has never reset itself , also i found i was rated around 150 watts per channel whats really goin here?

    That doesn't make any sense. 150 at 8 ohms should be able to handle those speakers unless the guy who owns it is running the amp to the clipping point? Or the amp needs WORK!

    According to the 5100 owners manual it is 110W @ 8 ohms.

    wow thats pretty good i think thats enough power for what need how would i hook that up to my onkyo 803 you see the 5100 has 1 set of rca inputs and 2 sets of speaker inputs need help to hook this up .can run my center and side surrounds this way? thanks for all your help
