Hello all,

I just got my first pair of Polk Audio speakers RTA-11T's. I have one problem though. One of the mid bass drivers on one speaker is seized and won't move at all. I took out the driver to look at it and noticed that it has the markings for a SDA driver, not RTA. Could I have mis matched drivers with my 11T's? Also Where do I search, or what key words do I type to find out how to modify speakers on this site? Thanks

Do you think I have the correct drivers for these speakers?

The RTA line shared a lot of drivers with the SDA line. What is the part number on the driver?

I think that you'll find out that vintage Polk speakers are also sometimes "like a box of chocolates"......they used whatever was at hand occaisionally and also made substitutions mid-model on some models of the older speakers. I find this very confusing! Depending upon which MW65XX driver is bad, you might be able to buy a new replacement one directly from Polk, some models are NLA unfortunately. The bad thing is that the new one won't sound the same as the others right away,if ever. That being the case, I'd try to repair the one you have or, find a used driver in good shape. The flea market here has a Wanted section in it and you can sometimes find them on ebay. Here's a link to how a repair can be done, I've never tried it myself but I definitely will if I ever need to. Depending on which MW model you have, I might be interested in buying it from you if you decide not to repair it and go for a replacement. Link:

I'll have to check when I get home from work. I think I remember the stamp being faded and looking at the other working driver for a part number.

I believe the RTA 11T used the MW6510 and 11 which are used in several of the SDA models.

    Combo rig:

Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
    SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B
    PB13Ultra RO
    BW Silvers
    Oppo BDP-83SE

The RTA 11T used the MW6510 for both drivers, they are both crossed at exactly the same point. A true D'appolitto array.

Here's the picture of the driver: MW 6510. So it belongs as others have said. Also I included a picture of the corner of that speaker, which shows the after math of the previous owners moving attempt? I'm not quite sure what to do about yet.

Ivevo, the 6510 is used in my SRS2s and so I'd definitely be interested in buying the frozen one that you have to experiment with. If you're interested in selling it for a reasonable price please let me know by PM what you'll take for it plus shipping to zip# 21771 Thanks gdb:)

I think I'm going to fix it, or give it a shot. I saw a pair of RTA 8T near me for $75.00 obo that I might pick up for parts. I really like my RTA 11T for the tower look and sounds good to me.

No problem, I think I might have a few others that I can get a hold of.:)
