That wasn't what I was talking about. With what the episode was about and the implications from the gravestone at the end...yeah, whoa...dude, like whoa.

The gravestone totally threw me for a loop. Does that mean Peter was brought through the warp at some point? Friggin wild.

He said it. Walter that is. He told Peter that when he was really sick as a kid, Walter worked on opening up that hole in the chance that he could bring back something he lost. He said he failed. But he didn't say he failed in getting an alternate Peter, he said he failed in getting something back that he lost. That something was his son because the Peter from the alternate dimension, just like the chick at Massive Dynamic said about everything in the other dimension, it was the same as this one but slightly different.

This explains why Peter doesn't remember anything from his youth that Walter discusses.

Yes it was great! A few shows in I dropped off viewing due to the 'freak of the week' tact they were on. Glad I've started watching again.

The freaks were integral to piecing the story together. I had most of the pieces put together by last week. But the whole thing with Walter being involved with Olivia's childhood happenings was a bit of a surprise. After seeing last night's episode though, last week's episode made complete sense. I just wasn't expecting the whole Peter thing with the gravestone. It not only brought to light some plot twists and devices but it offered a level of character exploration in the Walter character that I haven't seen since...well, X-Files. The gravestone revelation puts a great deal of insight in to Walter at the forefront and while Olivia is supposed to be the lead character with the others supporting them, I'm increasingly starting to think that Walter is the character that the plot revolves around.

I stopped watching after the second episode, but the pilot episode was great. I guess I was hoping it was more of a serial show like lost and not an episode by episode basis like x-files was. But I think when it arrives on dvd I think im going to watch it all in one shot. And I've heard Leonard Nimoy is in the second season 2, thats great Spock is back!

But it's not an "episode by episode basis like x-files". Each episode could stand alone but each episode also gave an integral clue to over-arching story line. The season finale didn't even end it. There are still questions.

And X-Files wasn't an "episode by episode basis" either. There was a HUGE story line that went throughout the entire run of the show. From The Cigarette Smoking Man to Mulder's sibling to Scully's baby and so on. It was all intertwined.

Yeah, I wasn't sure how well this show was holding my attention until they brought in the ZFT Manifesto. After that, all of the plotlines have had one central linking theme (and tied back into the previous episodes), which has made the show far more interesting.

It's funny about that. Abrams and his writers were consciously trying to make the show more accessible to the causal viewer by making it less serialized and more about compartmentalized episodes. Problem with that was, it makes for a very run-of-the-mill type of experience. As soon as they went away from that, the show got much better. As for casual viewers, I don't think they would be watching Fringe anyway.

Yes.... you are correct sir, but I could not see the forest for the trees and sold the show short too soon.

I enjoyed the show, as well as walter's insane comments and banter with peter.

Adding Lenard Nemoy as the head honcho of a guy who travels across dimensions was pure genious imo!

Now if only they could bring Shatner on as the bad guy!
