Quick question about sub hookup

Hiya,
Thanks for all your help in previous posts. I was wondering if using a y adapter ,2 rca male to 1 rca male, is a viable method of connecting from my amps pre-out to my DSWPro 500's LFE in. My amp has no sub out jack. I've already hooked it up via the pre-out and the line-in on the sub but bass was way too boomy.
Thanks.

I wouldn't suggest using a Y adaptor for your preamp outputs, as you are introducing one output signal into another output signal. This could damage your receiver.
The Boominess you are getting is from the full range of frequencies you are getting into the subwoofer.
Does the subwoofer have a crossover on it? If so, try turning that down, to limit the incoming frequencies to 80Hz or below, and run only one of the outputs into the sub. What you will be getting, though is the bass that would have gone into the Left or Right main speaker, so there will be some bass absent.
You can try to use the Y adaptor if you want, but it may, not 100% but may, damage the receiver. -
yeah i agree with LBrize could damage amp you really adjust your crossover in your sub i turn my all the down to were it is off for my velodyne 12 and use my onkyo crossover to do the job but at the same time i turn down the onkyo volume level for the sub channel and the use velodynes volume control calibrated with a sound level meter works for my set-up depending on your set up it should work for you

I assume you're using the Anthem 225 integrated amp you mentioned in another thread.
What I'd do is use the speaker level connections on the DSWPro 500.
What you'd need to do is run a speaker cable from the right speaker output of the 225 to the right speaker input on the DSWPro 500, and then run a second speaker cable from the DSW 500's right speaker output to your right side speaker.
Then run a speaker cable from the left speaker output of the 225 to the left speaker input on the DSW, and run a second speaker cable from the left speaker output on the DSW, to your left side speaker.
You'd then need to use the DSW's internal crossover to fine tune it and blend it with your speakers.
That being said, I can't verify whether or not the pre-outs would work, as they aren't an LFE output. Anthem says that it will though, and they'd probably know.
Did you play around with the subs placement, phase switch, crossover and level adjustments? It can take quite a while to really get a sub dialed in sometimes. Room placement is very critical with subwoofers. This could be what was causing the boominess.
The phase switch can make a very big difference in how the sub sounds too.
Where do you have the sub situated? Is it in a corner, cabinet, middle of a wall etc...?
Personally, I'd try the speaker level connection method though. The nirvana inducer-

Thanks guys,
I didn't even attempt the Y adapter, taking your advice and not wanting to damage the amp.
Curt, I connected using the speaker levels and it produced a huge difference compared to the pre-out, line-in method. Much tighter, natural and controllable when adjusting the crossover. I agree, I have alot of tweaking to do with placement. Right now it's mid-wall but I'm going to experiment with different placements. That's the fun part right? lol
My mains are LSI 9's and so far I'm pretty pleased with the way they seemlessly blend with the Pro 500. At first I had the 9's 22 inches off the floor (as you know, stands for these are tough to find). Now they're 30 inches off the floor and that made a dramatic improvement as well.
