Well, tell us what you like about it. Is it recorded good, great, stellar? What moves you about it? Do tell.

The sound quality is amazing, and it being in 5.1 surround is such a plus they did the album serious justice. What moves me is not only the lyrical content but the different types on music on this CD. I never owned this album growing up my older step sisters had it and played it all the time so i remembered it. of course the hits that they played all the time back then as well as at the roller skating rink.

    It's great stellar, and amazing..

Anybody have any other SACD's that are a must have that i should look for?

Right now all i have is

    Of course this CD
    Aerosmith Toys
    Pink Floyd DSOTM
    Boston s/t

    Any suggestions would be welcomed,

    Larry.

Yup it is an excellent SACD. I picked up on so much details that I never heard in my remastered cd that I was shocked.

If you can get this one do so. My favorite song is Funeral For a Freind/Love Lies Bleeding!

I have GYBR on DVD-A. Has anyone compared SACD and DVD-A side-b-side? Also, does the SACD have the acoustic version of "Candle In The Wind". Sounds awesome. And yes, "Funeral for a friend/Love lies bleeding" Sounds good when cranked.

    +1 :D

Also love the bonus DVD with some of the recording history included with GBYBR.

Elton John has a fairly extensive SACD catalog, mostly of his early albums. As a group they are very good. The mastering is excellent and very true the original recordings. They are well worth owning.

    I currently have:

    - Elton John
    - Madman Across the Water
    - Tumbleweed Connection
    - Honky Chateau
    - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
    - Captain Fantastic & The Brown Dirt Cowboy
    - Elton John: Super Audio CD Sampler

I don't have "Peachtree Road" because I don't like that particular album (He went way to "Pop" after the mid 70s for my tastes).

They are all hybrids and all have a multi-channel track...which I could care less about since 99% of all the MC music I've listened to sucks and I never bother with it. Besides I play all my SACDs on my 2 channel rig.

Some of my favorites on GBYR

    Sweet Painted Lady
    Jaimaca ****
    Johnny Bailey
    Screw You
    Roy Rogers

A great trivia question would be how many different animal sounds are on the disc(s)/album.

I have to tell you, when i got Aerosmith Toys in the Attic on 5.1 SACD i was like WOW this is awesome. But i have to say this Elton John SACD Kills it "BIG TIME".

I want more 5.1 SACD's, I really want Meatloaf Bat out of Hell.

And that's on SACD....although I have to inform you that it's considered out-of-print, therefore better save up.

Other pop/rock SACDs I considered as "must have"....

    The Who - Tommy
Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms
    Steely Dan - Gaucho
    Carpenters - Singles 1969-1981
    Michael Jackson - Thriller
Simple Minds - The Best of
    The Kinks - Come Dancing
    Toto - IV
John Denver - Greatest Hits Live
The Concert for New York City - Bowie, Bon Jovi, Paul McCartney, etc. but it's The Who who stole the show and blew the top off of Madison Square Garden

Btw, it's rumored, if not already confirmed, that multi-channel surround remixes were done for Elton's later albums as well. Even his last studio album. Unfortunately, his record company is refusing to release them on SACD.

I only have one Genesis SACD....We Can't Dance....and I like it a lot. I paid $20.00 for it off of ebay and it's well worth it (it comes with a DVD as well - just make sure the DVD is for NTSC standard).

If you're getting into SACD, you should also experiment with other genres of music. For jazz, you can't go wrong with....

Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
Dave Brubeck Quartet - Time Out
Hiromi - Brain (direct-to-DSD recording that sounds shockingly good)

I'd recommend joining yourmusic.com and picking up as many SACDs as possible for $6.99/each including shipping. SACDs of Clapton, Elton, Carpenters, etc. are still available.

Meatloaf before the vocal cord thing? That album was played endlessly in my first year of Grad School in the dining halls.
