She's got a real winner as a neighbor there. Sorry about that. Sounds like the poor woman could use some peace and quiet. At least she's got a good grandson.

    Jon,

file a harrasment complaint against the guy, document how many times he way, and continues to, go on your property.

you're gonna want to get ugly with this guy....fast

I know it's unpleasant, but you will be saving yourself trouble in the long run.

Well she doesn't live there anymore. Has to be in a nursing home because she requires medical attention that we can't give and we can't afford to pay a live in medical aid.

The guy got to mow my grandma's lawn because she felt sorry for him. He started doing it when I was still in college and she didn't want me hurting my studies having to worry about her yard care. So he got about 8-10 years of income out of it and he would clean gutters and trim bushes and such and charge her separately for that too. I always felt that he was taking advantage of her but it was her money and her intentions and I couldn't tell her different. Well, his gravy train for her ended because she moved out and doesn't own the house anymore. He's salty about that and I honestly don't care. Would he do the same to someone else if someone else bought the house and moved in?

Good thing I had set my coffee down before I read the last 4 posts here. :D

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

Than and a little pressure washing and car wax and that thing will look like new.

That is similar to my LX280. You can drop the mower and run without it or step up to a wider cut.

    Here's a shot after a washing about 2 years ago -

The seat just needs to be replaced... it's even worse than in these pictures. I wish dad would've put an hour counter on it when he bought it... I bet it's up there pretty good.

We used to pull the deck off all the time when hauling firewood with it and that sort of thing. It's nice to be able to go over some rougher terrain without having to worry about banging the deck all up. I've had that tractor high-centered on the deck more than once.

News flash- welcome to modern America. All it takes is one shady *sshole to
ruin a neighborhood. The guy and his kids are trouble. if they have the balls to
walk in with you there, imagine what a field day they'll have when you
go to work and leave those expensive tools out in the garage.
I got a couple of those in my area. We all know who they are. My passenger
side door was unlocked one evening on the truck, and they were right on it.
That means they check cars on a regular basis. You go mow in back
and leave the garage open, you find stuff missing. Lock it, alarm it, and
secure your stuff. Three break-ins, kids in your house, and the old man
window shopping, sounds like ample warning of bad things to come.
And if you shoot one of the little darlings while commiting a crime, you'll
    be the bad guy.

I didn't mean any offense by suggesting a riding mower, I just thought that it's a huge drain on your time to walk that much of an area. I've bought two vintage Cub Cadets at auctions for $200 & $350 and will never get rid of either one of them. They do require some maintainance but I'm pretty mechanically inclined so I have no problems keeping them going. As far as locking your door when you're in the yard.....well, whatever it takes. If it were me in your situation, I'd hook one of my electric fence units to the doorknob, then again, sure as ****, I'd forget and shock the snot out of myself, instead of the little brats !!! You might want to think about putting in a low-buck, DIY motion activated alarm system or a "dummy" one, putting out the warning signs that are available would be a good idea too! I hope they get the message soon that there's a new sheriff in town !!:)

I won't cut more than about .75 acres with a push mower. I have about .5 acre of grass and it takes me the better part of 3 hours to cut it all, but that is because my yard is broken up into 4 or 5 different sections and lots of obstacles. I spend more time turning than cutting. I'd love a rider, but it would be more trouble than its worth.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

I believe it would be best if John purchased two pair of hand clippers from Ace Hardware, return home and then settle himself down onto the earth of his land and cut each grass blade at precisely 5/8", not 1/2" nor 3/4", exactly 5/8", while doing so he should focus on his center, breathing in and out until he becomes one with the grass.

I suspect upon his neighbors observing these behaviors they will steer a wide path from his door.

Sorry to hear about your grandma John. Everyone wants to live to be a 100 years old but sometimes I wonder if its worth it. She sounds like a caring person and I wish her well.

I have about four acres to mow.

Lots of rain here lately and I am a little particular. Mowed it Friday and twice on Saturday( ditches 4 times). Mowed it tonight also, looks nice.

Mowing once a week would be unacceptable.

    Amen.

Mine has two cupholders, a cigarette pack & lighter holder, a map holder (in case I get lost), auto tranny and cruise control. I love mowing the lawn. :D

Well I own this lawn maintenance company and we have this big Jacobsen lawn mower with about a 16' wing span. Does about 12 acres in an hour. So 12 acres X an 8 hour day is 96 acres. Hows that? Chris :D:D

Friend of mine took his full-size Deere tractor to prom. Rolled right up to the front doors with his girlfriend across his lap. He and the girl just announced they're getting married... the tractor hasn't commented.
