I got the Sony S550 at Future Shop....$319 Cdn. Hmmmm....now I need something to play on it....oh....how about Star Trek the Original Series Season 1 on Blue-Ray?? Ok, good start, so I bought it at the same time.

Let me tell you....if you are a Star Trek fan you are going to see the Original Series like you've never seen it before!!!

Blue Ray on a 50" Samsung Plasma...I LIKE IT!!! I wonder why I waited so long?

I'd like to work up to getting the entire series. How much did you spend for the first season...roughly?

I think that only the 1st season is available on Blue Ray. I paid $79.99 cdn at Future Shop.

I just watched a couple of episodes. Of course the acting is real corny but what amazes me is the detail.

No so much the cost...it was more an issue of having an old big screen t.v. You know, the ones that need to be moved with a crane. Now that I finally got a flat screen plasma, it was only fitting to get a Blue-Ray...plus, costs did come down on those.

Congrats ...after hooking up my PS3 to my 58" Plasma and throwing in The Wild blu ray ( A tier zero reference animation disc ) I said the same thing as you :D

I couldnt leave out the 37" in the bedroom, so I bought a stand alone player for in there......now you have to set up a nice budget to feed your new toy. :)

Definitely an Original series Star Trek fan but I'm not sure if I want to see it on Blu-ray....just doesn't seem right to see it in that much clarity, if you know what I mean.....

As long as the "director" didn't add updated special effects befor releasing it(i.e. Star Wars:eek:), it should retain the charm of that era of TV watching. There is something fun about watching those old special effects where it actually required some ingenuity to make them happen vs. some mouse clicks and a piece of software.

Old and new special effects are both available as choices in this set. This is a well mastered blu-ray with a lot of attention to detail. Spock's make-up is a lot more obvious in the early episodes with the extra definition...

Lucky You! I can't wait to get one myself. I'm waiting for the price to drop more and for a bigger selection of dvd's to rent.
