I want to refinish my vinyl clad RTA-12s with real wood veneer. the problem is the top... there is a rubber or neoprene pad which the crossover/tweeter assembly rests on. Has anyone successfully removed the pad as it is glued to the cabinet pretty tight. I tried slowly removing it but it started tearing. Also, the crossover is wired through the cabinet thru a 3-pin plastic connector which also is glued firmly to the inside. Any suggestions would be helpful...

I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not, did you try applying a little heat? Maybe that will soften the adhesive allowing you to remove it easier.
    No clue on the connector.
