I just got Jimmy Page with The Black Crowes Live at The Greek on vinyl. I've had the cd version since it came out but the vinyl version totally rocks. This is a must have for any Jimmy, Zeppelin, or Black Crowes fan. The vinyl version is just sooooo much better than the cd. 3 LP set can still be found new for less than $50.00. Short of the Allman Brothers Live at the Filmore East the best live rock recording I've ever heard.

I have the cd............what about the album is "better" in your opinion other than it's analog. Does it have different mastering/mixing, etc."Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. I'm hearing better low end articulation with punchier bass. The sound stage is wider and imaging more precise. Overall less muddy and much more detail in heavy loud passages. And much more of the "you are there" feeling. And I'm using the Kenwood and not the Carver (which will soon be back in service)for amplification. Now that being said I'm using the Pioneer Elite DV-79avi for cd playback which is good but by no means top end.SDA-1C (full mods)

When I listen to the cd I can hear each of the 3 guitarists distictly with Jimmy Page being on the inner part stage right as you're facing the the stage with Rich Robinson being more forward and at the outer part of stage right. Audley Freed (sp) is on the left.
Bass punch is outstanding and Chris Robinson's vocals are dead center and a bit recessed. The seperation of instruments, especially the drums and cymbals is excellent and even during passages where all 3 guitarists are all playing rhythm I can distinctly hear the 3 slightly different guitar tones. The sound stage is HUGE and has some depth to it. It has nice crunchy guitar sound and excellent dynamics for a live recording. One of my favorites cd's to "rock" out to.
There was a rumor for a long time that a DVD of the performance was going to be released...........but it never was. None of the Crowes songs could be included because of licensing issues with their label. I have a couple bootleg video's from the mini tour and it looks like it was a fun time for all including the fans.
