Help with speaker selection

I'm looking for a little help in deciding which speakers to get for my center and rear speakers.

Here’s a little info in what I have so far. I have recently purchases a Denon 1909 receiver and some Polk RTi A3 speakers to use as the front speakers in a 5.1 HT setup. My room is about 13’ x 24’ and is somewhat open on both ends. Also, I have a 50” TV in a corner. I am planning on purchasing a SVS PB12-NSD as my sub. Last, we would probably use the setup for 60% HT and 40% music.

Back to my questions:

First, I can’t decide between the CSi A6 and A4. Is the A6 worth the extra money and which will match better with A3’s?

Second, I can’t decide what to do for the rear speakers. I was originally planning on buying some RTi A1’s, but are they worth the price to only use as rear speakers? Could I use some TSi’s or even a set of M10’s?

One last thing, the combination of the CSi A6’s and RTi A1’s is really at about the maximum that I can afford to spend.

It’s driving me crazy, so any help on where to spend my money would be greatly appreciated.

You might try looking at this thread:

I haven't heard any of these speakers so can't advise. But you can find a lot of information here via the search button.

Well, one bit of advice: take a deep breath and calm down. Go slow. The truth is out there. You'll find it eventually. But, purchase in haste, repent at leisure.

I think the A3s-A6-A1s would be a nice sounding rig. You probably would not feel too bad with the A4 center as well. But if you have the budget for the A6 go for it so you never end up asking yourself if should have gone with it over the A4.

The A6 and A4 are both from the RTi series so both good matches for the A3 and A1s also from the RTi series.

For your second question; yes and yes. Yes you could go for the TSi or M10 or OWM they would all work and sound ok. Yes the extra money is worth it for the A1s. If you need to scrimp I guess the rears would be the place to do it. Compromises sometimes need to be made, the best thing you can do, would be to go listen to the speakers you are thinking about. Then your ears can decide if a compromise is worth it and choose one that you can live with.

Have you checked with the Polk eBay listings? Some really good deals show up there if you keep checking. LINK Polk Direct
Newegg also has good deals on the entry level Polk models.
Also don't forget the FM section of the forum where you may find the best deals of all.
Good luck and welcome to CP

The CSiA6 for sure and you could use just about anything for the rears.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Make sure you have the space for the CSiA6, They are big so keep in mind where you are going to put it. If it is to big the A4 will be just fine as well.

Thanks for everyone's input. I just broke down and ordered the CSi A6 and the RTi A1. As "apphd" mentioned, I didn't want to wonder "what if" later. It's only money, right!

I'm looking forward to getting everything hooked up. I think it will make for a pretty nice system.
