SDA SRS question

I will be picking up a pair of SDA SRS speakers next weekend from the original owner in great condition. I am excited about it. I believe they are the original SRS speakers because the interconnect cable is blade/blade. Is that correct. Thanks.

Pull one of the drivers out and look on the back of it, also look at the cross over plate how many bolts it has.
I just went through all this and the guys here helped me out with the same questions.the owner told me they were SDA SRS 1.2tl's, and come to find out they were the 1.2's not the 1.2tl's.

Were you happy with the sound of them. I have SDA SRS 2's. I never heard the big boys before. I have to assume they are better. The owner said he bought them in the 80's and they were lightly used. Will see when I get them next weekend. It's going to be fun getting them in my truck. My house is turning into speaker world. I have a very understanding wife. I don't know about the neighbors when I crank these bad boys.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,

be sure to have a friend with you to load them up.. at 185 lbs each.. they ain't light by any means.
it's like carrying a coffin.. that's the best way to describe it.. tall and heavy.
transport them on their backs.. remove the passive or one of the mid bass drivers. and place a thick foam pad or mattress on the bed of your truck too.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

On their backs makes seance as does the padding, but what does removing a driver do?________________

I picked up the SDA SRS speakers today. They look like they just came out of the box. The guy hardly used them. They are a sweet pair of speakers. I thought my SDA SRS 2 speakers were big, these are massive. It was like carrying in two coffins in my house. One thing I noticed with these speakers is that they need to be far apart and you really need a big room to do them justice. I have them hooked up to a Luxman M-117 amp. That is a great combo in my opinion. I have to sets of SDA SRS 2 speakers. One is a blade/blade early SRS 2, the second is a pin/blade SRS 2 bi-amp speaker. The speakers I picked up today are blade/blade from the original owner. I believe they are the orignal SDA SRS speakers. Without taking the SRS 2's apart does anyone know which one is the better match for the SRS as rear speakers. Is the basic upgrade to the SDA SRS replacing the tweeters with RDO 194's.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,

I don't have pictures yet but someone else posted pictures a couple of days ago letting everyone know they were for sale on a new york craigs list. There are some good pictures of them on that post. Bluecomet - Nice collection!!! Have you tried the 10A's on your Kenwood KR 9600? I have some of the same components that you have and I gotta say the Kenwood/10A combination is simply outstanding. On another note I'd sure like to get my ears on some 1C's. How would you compare the 1C's to the 10A's? Congrats on the new addition to the family.

Either of your 2 pair will match the SDA SRS as they all use SL2000 tweeters.Political Correctness'.........defined

Thanks Finut. I was hoping you would say that. My Bi-ampable version of the SRS 2's match the SRS in color perfectly. It is a medium oak. Responding to Michaeljhsda2, I agree the Kenwood KR 9600 teamed with the Monitor 10A is a great combo. I like the feature of the Kenwood that you can control the bass, treble and mids. I have also run them on my SAE system with a parametric EQ and they really shine in that combo also. I would say the SDA 1C's is a better all around speaker. It has a fuller sound and of coarse it has the SDA effect. You would not want to EQ any SDA. The Monitors are a different story. An EQ is not really needed with a Monitor 7A because it is very balanced but that speaker is enhanced by a subwoofer. The Monitor 10A does not need a subwoofer but an EQ can enhance the mids that some say can sound muffled. I have found it makes the speaker much more clear and enhances the sound. Both are great speakers.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,

Are the impedance's of both pair of srs 2's 4 ohms? I am picking up a pair in 2 weeks and when I get them fixed up, the only amplification I have to drive them is an old Yamaha RX-V2090 which gives a rating down to 2 ohms. Although, I know this not the ideal I am going to need it to drive the srs-2's for some time until I am able to unload some gear to pay for new amplification.2-channelBelles 22A Pre, Emotiva XPA-2 Gen 2, Marantz SA8005, Pro-Ject RPM-10 Turntable, Pro-Ject Phono Box DS3B, Polk Audio Legend L800's, AudioQuest Cable throughout.

Do you know if the speakers you are getting are blade/blade or pin/blade. The older blade/blade version is 4 ohm. I believe the newer version pin/blade to be 8 ohms.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,

Does one model sound better than the other? -
I think they are the blade blade because Sal says he has extra MW'09 drivers.2-channelBelles 22A Pre, Emotiva XPA-2 Gen 2, Marantz SA8005, Pro-Ject RPM-10 Turntable, Pro-Ject Phono Box DS3B, Polk Audio Legend L800's, AudioQuest Cable throughout.

To be honest, I don't hear much of a differance between the two different versions of SRS 2's I have. I did hear from someone that the outer drivers are different on the bi-ampable version. I never bi-amp them. They seem to be easier to drive with todays newer equipment that I tried it with. I don't use the SRS speakers in a HT system, they are more for music. I use vintage equipment to power them on a regular basis. I have had very good results with higher end equipment of the day mated with these high end speakers. They were made for each other.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,

The B/B is 4 ohm nominal. The P/B is 6 ohm nominal.Political Correctness'.........defined
