Are dealers dropping LSi prices?

I haven't been to any Polk LSi dealer for years.
While surfing the net, I noticed that the LSi speakers are selling much cheaper than they used to. This is online dealers.
So just wondering if your local LSi dealers are dropping their prices to match? If so, I may start saving my pennies for a pair of LSi25.

Puzzling point about Polk & dealers. Hearing bit & pieces thru the grapevine...Polk is supposedely going ID by the end of the summer. Whether or not this is true I don't know. I'm sure others here can answer with a clearer answer. I guess when you really think about it, who's left to carry them?

Not sure, but I bet in this case ID would equal Internet Direct. (think SVS type marketing / selling)

Been wondering why someone would pay $2,500 for speakers that can be gotten for $1,000 from Polk Direct with a 2 year warranty. At some point I'd expect dealers won't bother. I admit I didn't know about PD until I stated hanging out at CP. But over time most people will be buying from PD.

I can't help but think that Polk would blow away much of the competition in various rankings if the "professional" reviewers compared them to speakers whose street prices were similar. Don't know.

I disagree (although my crystal ball is no more clear than yours)... It seems like many who purchase LSi speakers do it with them being unheard (or listened to being driven from a sony reciever in an audio room of speakers). if they could offer them direct for a lower price - it may just increase sales.

I do agree for the lower lines it may be a bad idea. (as many lower end speakers are purchased based on what is a brand I have heard of, that the store I am currently in carries, and fits my price range.)

Just an opinion like many others....

ID....not a good idea for most Polks. If you look at Crutchfield, JR, even Best Buy, you'll see that Polk Ms, TSIs, and RTIs are among the perrenial bestsellers!

LSIs, I'm not sure. It would be great to get them at a lower price and if this helps...maybe....after all the only place I could demo LSIs up here is gone (Tweeter).

Polk needs to stay in the mass market, all that time in CC was NOT BAD for brand recognition. Heck, that's where I first heard some M series.

For example does SVS rival Velodyne in sales? I suspect not?

    Pinsongs,
Glad to hear you enjoy them. The LSi have such a nice sound.

As to Polk going direct only, that would kinda suck. I really love the whole thing with speaker or equipment purchases. Getting ready, going to the store to pick them up and getting them home. Such an adventure.

I think it would be better if they sold through smaller dealers like they did in the past. But then again, if they go direct-only, they can be had at a a much lower price. Now I don't know what's better.
But whatever Polk decides to do, I think they will be successful in it. They know what they're doing.
