My X bought me a new toy

I am very happy. Today my X picked up the girls and called minutes later. She stopped at a tag sale and saw a Delta band saw that looked like new for $60. She asked if her father would enjoy it. He is about 65-70 years old, and has cancer:((my daughters and I pray for him every night). I told her that a band saw doesn't get used much, and she proceeded to tell me about some other stuff there. One Item was a saw that said Rockwell on it. So I asked if it was a table saw. Well it was, and it was $115. She invited me to take a look at it. I did tell her I can't afford anything now, but I was interested in what it was. So I show up and it was an old cast iron table saw with a solid rip fence. It can rip to 25". Long story short I now have a nice table saw that I owe her some favors for:)

I know how Xs think. She probably is hoping you will cut your face off with it.

Nice saw though, they are solid.

Ben, just make certain that ALL safety equipment is in place and working properly and that everything is tightened up and set the way it should be before pressing the "on" button. You may also consider checking to see if there is a new life insurance policy that has been taken out on you recently....

Well it can be read many different ways. The original was don't stir trouble. My 5yo asks a lot why mommy doesn't love daddy. That kills me. It is hard to explain to an innocent little girl that mommy and daddy don't get along. Sometimes.... well... I wish things were different. The main thing is don't poke the bee's nest. An angry parent is a bad parent. I know I am an **** a lot here, but people need to teach love and forgiveness.

If you cover up her mean face shes got it going on:) Seriously I do wish things were different. I did a lot of counseling to understand that anger is a secondary emotion, and it is always(I hate to use the word always) caused by hurt or something else. I am not afraid to open up here. I never felt the way I did when I met her, and like wise. Expectations fell short(of coarse), and money got tight(of coarse). We fell apart. I wish I could give advice to others going through what destroyed us, but short words have no meaning. The whole family is suffering. Her mom and dad have health issues. I am probably not going to last to long(health). Damn it the more I type I feel bad for her.
You guys know I act like a fool on the forums sometimes, but God can work miracles. Maybe my health can come back, and maybe...
Add me to your prayer list folks.
    Thanks

Ben, I think you're about ready to compose a Country tune! Get on it: you have all the ingredients already, and you could even give the chickens a mention!

P.S. Please be careful with that saw. Phantom pains are a misery, ya know, and some things are a whole lot harder to do with missing body parts. BE SAFE, for your girls' sake, if not your own!

    Ben,

I feel for you brother! I really am and I will put you and your family into my prayer list. I hope one day soon, your family will have a chance to reconcile.

Take care of your health, bro! It's important that you need to be healthy to take care of your little girl. She's only 5, right? You need to be strong for her and I can tell you God will not abandon you alone in this journey.

Be strong, stay safe and stay away from the car door. :D

    Best Wishes,
    James

Safety equipment on a Rockwell? 1st thing a new owner did was take off that crappy plastic blade guard that just would gum up with pine tar.
They sold out to Delta and Porter-Cable back in Reagan's 1st term, I think. I had one, good contractor saw, not too heavy, not too flimsy. Flips over perfectly onto a truck gate for portability.

    good times.

    p.s.
tip for testing blades for true. What you don't want is a warped blade, which can happen when they overheat. Put it on a piece of plate glass, and tap around the edges with your finger. You'll know if it's warped even a few thousandths of an inch, it'll clatter. It may still cut fine, just good to know.
