I am looking to go from 5.1 (Sony STR DG910 Receiver, Polk RTI A7 front towers, CSI A6 Center, FXI A6 side surrounds, and two PSW 125 subwoofers) to a 7.2 speaker set-up.

Future Shop (in Canada) is selling the RTI A3 bookshelves for $329 and the RTI A1 for $299. It seems like a no brainer to go with the larger A3 for an additional $30, but will these speakers be to overbearing/ overkill for rears in my new 7.2 system?

My Theater room is 12 feet 3 inches wide by 21 feet 2 inches long.

Thank you for your suggestions!

Go with the RTiA3's or another set of FXiA6's eather one will be fine.

If it was me i would look at swaping out your receiver maybe down the line for a future upgrade. But if it sounds good to you and your happy with it stay with it.

It's a waste of money. Instead, upgrade your receiver.
HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50” LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

Find something with Pre outs that way if you get the upgrade bug again you can add an externel amp to power your front stage. This is a biased opinon if you can swing it get the Pioneer SC-05 or SC-07.

There are a few good receivers to look at know what your budget is and look at Oynko, Yamaha, and the other Pioneer Elite Recevers. The Yamaha RXV-863 is a good receiver. but what you might pay for one i would spend the extra cash and go for the Pioneer SC-05.

Do some reserch on a few and find whats in your budget but find something with pre outs. if you can swing the Pioneer SC-07 you may find your self happy enough you won't have to worry about an external amp with the RTiA7's. But with having the pre outs you will always have the option to add if you so like.

    Good Luck!!

I know my local Sony rep and can get great deals from him directly. What do you think about Sony STR-DA3400ES?

I don't think it's a waste of money, But i do agree upgrade the receiver first.
I love my 7.2 system, More so with the SC-07 then when i had the Yamaha, maybe i just did'nt have the Yamaha calibrated right. with the SC-07 i have this system singing with the help of this place of course.

I have never owned a Sony Receiver, but i have read that they don't do the RTi Polk series any justice. maybe somebody will chime in on this that has a or have had a Sony receiver with the RTi's.

I just looked at that receiver, For the price of that receiver i still say go with the SC-05.

Remember this is your money so find what makes you happy. I just urge you to do some reserch on others as well. You want to enjoy the ride, not get confused and frustrated.

I had a Sony 7100ES AVR in my main HT room. It's been replaced by the Pio SC-07. Get Sony off the brain and try something else. SC-07/05 are great performers, but remember there's much better gear out there than Sony. One of my lessons learned here.
