To bridge or not bridge.. That is the question

I have 2 clairion APX 480 running 4 pair of polk momo mmc650. I am using the amps full stereo. But was wondering if I would get better sound if I bridged the amp and connected 2 speakers to each side (front/back) instead of individual channels. In stereo mode the RMS is 80X4 @ 0.05 THD. In mono mode the RMS is 230X2 @ 0.5 THD. Is this THD too high? How about over powering the speakers max power is 180 watts, and RMS is 80 watts? And should I be using the built in crossover on the amp even though the speakers have a passive crossover? Thanks for your help!!!!!

Wont give you better sound necessarily - just a lot more power. If you use it wisely youll get better dynamics but the chances of frying your speakers is pretty high.

One thing you could try would be bi-amping the front speakers. Run the tweeters thru the crossover off the front amp channels and then run the mids straight off the rear channels. This will give you more power but best of all itll give you much more flexibility in tuning the output of the tweeter to blend with the mids. Worth a try.

Give it a try and see if you like it. Having the extra headroom is nice, just make sure your gains are set correctly.
