Speakerwire Terminations

Hi,
I have some Beldin cable I am going to use for my rears and a friends set of speakers. What is an affordable website or vendor that carries a decent brand of terminations (spade or banana). I want to get them for less than $4 a pop. I know the cable is no thicker than 10 AWG ( I do not recall the actual gauge). I will probably use either a set screw type or crimp them unless its is totally preferred to solder them on. Any advice will be appreciated.
Thanks

mononprice.com had Bananna plugs going for $0.94 a pair - 2/3 off of their already good price. Check in there to see if the sale is still going gone.

$1.49 now, still a good deal...

I bought these dual nanners from Rat Shack to terminate some BJC 12g Belden. Still use them on my RTi4 surrounds. Working great for over a year now. I treated the wire, bananas and terminals with Caigs when I installed them. Not as purdy as the MIT's I have on my mains now, but effective.

Funny you should mention that. I actually bought some of those today for the speaker ends of the cables in my HT setup.

They were 8 bucks each, and are working great so far. I've got no complaints, though I've only had them for a day.

I've purchased bananas from both Parts express, and monoprice. I recommend monoprice, you'll get a much better price there. (I just installed my monoprice bananas 2 days ago, they're great!)

Thanks for the help, I think I might try out monoprice. The terminations are for a second room in my house and a friend's house so I was not going to go all out like my MITs and AQ4s.

I've asked a lot of questions in this forum about cables. I hope OP don't mind but since the theme of this thread is speaker cable termination, I'd like to ask you guys a few questions regarding termination:

1.) Is it unusual for high quality speaker wire to only be terminated on the amp end?

2.) Is there any loss in audio quality if I don't terminate the speaker ends and just wrap the bare wire around the speaker posts?

3.) Doing my own speaker termination and assuming I did a stellar job, would there be any less audio quality than factory terminated speakers?

4.) Lastly, my Paradigm speakers are able to be bi-wired. They have four speaker binding posts on each speaker and have those metal jumpers currently installed. I'm planning on getting some quality speaker cables. But with the quality of cables being equal, would I see much improvement going with bi-wire speaker cables compared to regular cables and just leaving the jumpers in?

I too have compulsions to steal stuff a lot. It makes life a lot more enjoyable.

I'm gonna come down to Hawaii and visit you sometime Mike. Just be forewarned that if you go to the bathroom, you'll come back out and find most of your audio equipment gone, and me nowhere to be found.:p;)

Hi Keiko, I'm kind of new on here and you seem like the man to ask. Any advice you can give in regards to the questions I asked in post # 11 of this thread?

I just use good cables wired in a standard configuration. Works for me.

Regardless of whether the speaker is capable of being bi-wired?
    Keiko wrote: »
My suggestion would be to invest in a pair of good standard cables, remove the jumpers and use a good piece of wire in place of that.

I've not heard of replacing the jumpers with a good piece of wire (unless of course you lost the jumpers). Why do this? Why not just use the jumpers that the speakers came with?

OK, thanks for the help. May I ask what kind of speaker cable you're running? I'm considering getting a set of THESE.
    Keiko wrote: »
Like I said, you can try bi-wiring and let your ears decide if it was worth the extra investment.

Of course bi-amping speakers is a whole different ball game, I would think.
