My Grados Died

I went to listen to music last night and found that the right can of my Grado SR80 headphones is not working:(. It may have been damaged when I was using them to mix sound at church last Sunday. After enjoying them for about 15 years, I'll be sad to see them go. Even sadder as I'll have to sell something or beg for funds to replace them.

I saw on "Good Cans" instructions to disassemble them and I'll see if I can fix them. If I can't, I will likely go for the SR80i or maybe the SR125i. The SR80 seem to be regarded as great bang for the buck. What others should I consider for less than $150?

Hmm... if you like the Grados sound, you will be hard pressed to find other cans that sound similar for the same amount of money.

There was someone in the subscriber area of AudioKarma.org who was looking for a pair of headphones with only one working side.

I was looking at the headwize repair. I disassembled the unit and found that the voice coil is open circuit. Tonight I'll try to remove the diaphragm and see if I can fix the connection.

I did contact Grado and they don't ship replacement parts but they will repair them for $30 shipping included. Sounds like a good deal.

You can NEVER spend too much on a set of cans. :D
