Marantz Monoblock?

Everyone seems to agree that I need an external amp to make the 11ts live up to their potential, and I found some good prices on the Marantz ma 700 monoblocks. I figured since I like my SR 6003 so much, that I would try and find a Marantz external amp or monos to go with it. Were the MA 700s made during Marantz's troubled times, whats the word on them? Keep in mind I would like to keep it <$500. Would they be a good choice, or should rule them out and look elsewhere? What would be a good amp for the 11ts? Would 200w per channel be enough or would 300wpc be better? I was considering the usual brands that people on here like: Parasound,NAD,Carver, etc. I'm even considering Emotiva, which seems to be love when they work and hate otherwise? I'm open to all suggestions. Will be used for MUSIC.:D

Really? That's a better response than I expected about the MA 700s. I found them a few places from 200-300 bucks, and the price just seemed a little too good. In most cases you get what you pay for, unless you scour CL etc. waiting for the perfect deal. Any of you guys have them?

I'd settle for an 8B (needless to say, that 9 isn't mine!)

You wish it was though.;) Those 9's go for big bucks, when they can even be found.

One of the first hi-fi stereos I ever got my ears on was at one of my uncles house, he has a bunch of vintage Marantz gear. No 9's though unfortunately.

Vintage Marantz gear is some of the sexiest gear out there IMO. Someday I'd love to put together a secondary 2 ch. rig using just vintage Marantz separates.

Yeah, but I'd be happy to have an 8B or an 8. In fact, after restoring a beautiful 8B for a fellow here in MA a couple of years back, the acquisition of an 8B is on my (dwindling) life list. Just a marvelous sounding and beautifully designed and executed amplifier. I haven't seen a 9 in many years; but I am sure it is more of the same (PPP EL34 monoblock, as I recall).
