2 channel sub hookup

Hiya,

I have an Anthem 225 2 channel amp which doesn't have a sub out or main in ,only pre-out and am considering a purchase of one of the DSW Pro subs.

The folks at Anthem said I can connect from the pre-out to the line -in on the sub.

Does this sound correct? Also , if I hookup in this way does the sub have to have a built in crossover? I was looking at the tech specs and it seems that only the DSW Pro600 has a built in crossover. Is that also correct?

Thanks

What Anthem told you is correct. Not sure what to say about the Polk crossover question. I see why you would think that after looking at the specs. listed. But if you look at the manuals it says all the DSW subs have a crossover, which I would find to be the most likely. I think most if not all powered subs will have a crossover.

Here are the manuals. Try around page 9

I'm assuming that amp has a pre-amp/pro running it. If so, hook into the Polk subs LFEs, bypass crossover and adjust it from the pre--if that's possible. If not use the manual ins and use the Polk internal crossover knob.

Actually, if you have a pre/pro that has an LFE or sub out, you should forget about the Anthem period since it will not be 'powering' anything? And hook the sub directly to your pre/pro.
