Rti10 gone, Rtia1 here
I'm slightly missing the Rti10's but as I'm sitting here in the man cave, I'm sort of digging the new simplicity of Polk's smallest RTia's. I had some RTi4 years ago and took them back after a week. They sounded awful on my Yamaha Rx-v795a. So shrill and thin. By comparison these RTIa1's are getting the royal treatment from my Harman AVR 7300. I guess I'll never know if it's the RTi4 or the 795, probably some of both.
I just missed snagging a set of great priced NHT Classic 3's last week on the 'Gon by a few minutes. I don't know how good those sound and really wanted to try them out, but Dark Side of the Moon is sounding mighty fine on these RTia1's. And the $300 in my pocket doesn't hurt either.
I like the new look too.

I've got the RTiA7's (replacement for the RTi10's)...they look and sound great. Do you miss the low end bass at all witht the A1's??

Although, the 7's could use some more mid range presence.

A sub is definitely needed with these, no question that I miss the bass, can't expect the 1's to defy physics, however, there were a few times that I was surprised how low they do play. They're fun to listen to by themselves.

What prompted you to go from those (relatively) big towers down to the little bookshelves? I'm guessing this is strictly 2-channel?

Just time to switch things up. I'm about to rearrange the room and the 10's were just too big, the room is pretty small and they were taking over. Now that I hope to get that Monitor Audio speaker in the flea market, I might be downsizing even more. I'm curious to see how the R225 does against a CSi5. I always liked the CSi5, but dang, it's a big one too. Right now I have it on a shelf, but if I could put the speaker in front of or over the TV, I'd have a spot to bring out my turntable again.
