Continuing the question line I started in http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=81626, I'm trying to understand which caps are best in crossover applications, and specifically, which type in which part. So, the question has become:

Of the Mundorfs, between the MCap, MCap ZN and MCap Supreme (I'm the sure the silver and gold will be cost prohibitive), is there a recommendation?

And face was kind enough to answer with:

MCaps or dayton would be fine for the woofer/LF. For the tweeter, look into either Sonic Caps, Claritycap SA, Dayton, or Mundorf Supremes, etc...

So for the high end, what is people's experience with the sonic caps vs. the mundorf supremes? Some googling indicates that both are very highly regarded.

The best thread I've been able to find directly comparing this is this:

http://www.10audio.com/sonicap_oimp_multicap.htm

However, it's a few years out of date. Anyone care to comment?

For the 12's I would use the Sonicaps lows/mids and Mundorf or Dynamicap for the highs. I think you will be very surprised. ;)

    Like I said before.....:D

    Good article.

And I'm going to look into this, but what I'm asking for is not a brand, but a type, as in polypropylene vs. electrolytic vs. mylar vs. etc., and in which section. The reason I kind of keep hammering on the point is this:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Polk-Audio-Monitor-10,-RTA-11-Upgrade-Kit_W0QQitemZ260390009305QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20090408?IMSfp=TL090408154006r11869

He talks about mylar caps in one section and polys in another. So what's he saying may be complete bs, but I need to understand that, and why it does, or does not, matter.

Sorry to berate the point. I'm stupid, I know, but I do want to learn.

You want to use film caps throughout. The EBAY kit doesn't come with any resistors either which you would want to replace.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks
