moving up to 7.1...need some rears...using lsi25, lsic, lsifx, denon 3806, rotel 1075...i need to run the surround back speakers of the denon so i think the lsi series is out..what a good way to go about this...do i need high end speakers back there or can i get away with el cheapos...
also should i go floorstanding or wall mounted?

You'd be fine running another pair of LSiFX or a pair of LSi9's/7's off the Denon. Since it's just one pair, and surround backs at that, it wouldn't really be putting much stress on the amp. The surround back channels aren't real demanding.

Either floorstanders or wallmounts would work well. I'd go with another pair of LSiFX or a pair of LSi9's myself.

    Congrats Curt.

I see those Rtis have made it into the system...can we expect a review soon, or shots!

You would probably be better served placing money spent to go to 7.1 elsewhere in your system. For instance, what kind of sub do you have? Is it time to upgrade your receiver? Etc...

Yep, I just got them earlier today. So far I'm very happy with them...I'm about to go pop in The Dark Knight and test their HT ability out. I'm definitely in need of a new center channel now though...A CSi5 will be coming soon.

I'll get a review together once I've spent a bit more time with them.

    x2 on that suggestion.

The difference between 5.1 and 7.1 is pretty minimal. There are so few movies even being released in 7.1 at this point, you're probably better off waiting IMO.

I had a 7.1 system for a while, then I rearranged my living room, and I didn't have quite enough cable for the surround back runs. I left it in 5.1, intending to run and get some cable in the next few days. That was about 4 months ago, and I have no intentions of going back to 7.1 anytime soon.

As the old saying goes "ya get what ya pay for" if you want el cheapo's, you can have mine when I upgrade-although I think one will never be the same after a very loud session of SLIPKNOT the other night :D You've got a very nice system there, I wouldn't chease out. I'm as green as the grass so take my advice with a grain of salt, but if I had the room, I'd go with floorstanders.

i guess when i say "el cheapos" i really mean anything not the lsi series..

what suggestions are there for further improvements to the system instead of the speakers?

at this point money isnt as free flowing due to a recent home purchase...which allows me to finally have my theater room and play this system much louder...people have told me in the past that the rears in the 7.1 arent important and arent used much...so i figure i throw a pair of boston acoustic i have lying around back there for now
