How your team do this year? I'm sure Raiders fans are still scratching their heads!

The Falcons (my team) won the draft before it started by picking up Tony Gonzales from KC! :D Otherwise they did exactly what they needed to do and loaded up on defense.

yep I'm still scratching my head. Other than that I'm supprised to see Shone Greene from iowa not go till the third round, oh well hopefully he gets some playing time and shows everyone what hes made of and not just a fluke year last year at Iowa.

I think the Bengals had a great draft on paper. Now we just have to wait for another 2-4 years to see if they can play like they're supposed to.

My only consolation is that the Raiders, Chiefs, and Chargers all did worse. Denver's first round and they're late pick QB are the only solid picks I'm seeing right now. So glad I'm not a Raider fan or I'd be on top of the stadium hunting for the crypkeeper...

Fins fan here. I liked their CB selection in the 1st round, but thought White in the 2nd was just terrible. They should have just went best available WR in my opinion. But they did lock down another CB in the 3rd and a WR in the 4th I think, so they filled their primary needs overall.

Don't sleep on Pat White. He can run the Wildcat as a double threat.

I think Pat White may end up being a big steal at that point. Very versatile and he CAN throw the ball as well.

Chargers picked Larry English in the 1st round. They could have traded down to the 2nd round, pick up an additional round , then pick English in the 2nd round. 16th pick is way to high to pick English.

I hope you guys are right. I also hope they don't run the wildcat to death this year. It was a novelty last year, but it can't be more than a 3-4 play change of pace this year now that everyone's on to it.

I hope you're right Rodeo. We don't need a QB at all (Henne's learning from the other Chad and has an absolute cannon) so I hope White has some serious WR skills...

Chiefs and Chargers did worse than Denver? That is laughable.

Of course, judging a draft based on people that have never suited up and played a single down is laughable.

The Chiefs at least got a franchise QB (Cassell) and proven MLB in Vrabel all for a 2nd round pick. You have to hold judgment on the rest for at least 3 seasons I believe. The Donkies on the other hand traded away a Pro Bowl QB for a wanna be because they couldn't land Cassell.. the Donkies are in trouble this year!

I will agree with I-Sig though, the Falcons had the best draft of them all by landing Tony G. That guys is going to change their offense so much! I just because a Falcon's fan too :D

I'm STILL on cloud nine over Gonzalez. All the Falcies had to do was draft defense and more defense. The secondary was always the primary concern and it appears they addressed that.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Funny when the rest of the AFCW teams said Cutler sucked and wasn't a winner and only went to the probowl because of the early season press and Rivers, Cassel, Pennington, etc.. all had better years... Now he was one of the best in the league now that he's gone... Of course not many know (and fewer will even admit) that Kyle "blows chunks" Orton outplayed Cutler on a team with only converted DB's as wideouts until he got hurt and played with a high ankle sprain on his plant foot the rest of the year.

Besides, with Denver's line, WR's, HB, TE's, FB's and now Moreno, Orton won't have to press that much...

The "D" got a whole lot bigger and nastier adding a true NT and hybrid rush ends with some ball hawks and playmakers to go in the secondary.

Let's see, you picked up a QB that had one good season leading a team that went 18-1 the season before and had broken every scoring record possible and led it to an 11-5 record and a 179 point drop in output... Yeah, that guys a franchise QB... But hey, you picked up a 33 year old linebacker that NE didn't want anymore (And they like old, slow LB's...) so you got that... And that was your best pickup... I'm wondering what defensive scheme you will be running with no true NT on the roster...? Oh, and where'd Tony go? Who's supposed to be catching passes when Bowe is doubled? Have LJ's legs fallen off yet?

Aparklers was OK, but they could have had the same draft by trading down instead of reaching all over the place, but they have so few holes, they can afford it...

But hey, at least we can laugh at the Raiders!

I wasn't really impressed with the draft this year. Some good prospects for sure but nothing super spectacular.

I'm glad Sanchez went to the Jets, they needed him. There were other teams that needed prospects that they didn't get and still others that got prospects that made me wonder why?

As for the Cowboys, nobody of note. I think Jon Kitna was a bigger acquisition than any of their draft picks. Most of their picks seemed to be aimed at deepening a talent pool into a second or third string level from an already deep first and second string set of players. We'll see I suppose. They are still light in the defensive secondary and they need some help on special teams but overall, it's hard to make a big improvement in a talent pool as rich as the Cowboys already have anyway. Especially with fresh, inexperienced draft-picks.

If only the Cowboys could get back to playing like a team again.

I think it is a little high, but I thought it was a great pick for them. With the defense that they have, a guy like Larry English should be a Pro Bowler at some point. No way could they have gotten him in the second round because he never would have made it past a number of other 3-4 teams.

The talk in S.D. is that AJ Smith picked English so he can dump Merriman when he goes "Hollywood"...assuming he does make it back to where he was before his knee surgeries, and if not, again English will be there to fill the gap.

    fwiw...

    Erik Tracy,

Merriman is a stud. Even if he goes Hollywood, he's still one heck of a football player. The Chargers are too cheap to re-sign Merriman next year. Those are huge shoes for English to fill.

Agreed....the local sports writers are just trying to figure out the mind process of the GM. AJ Smith - cuz it does make one's head boggle at what he does and says.

Denver fans are the same anywhere you go..

You cant judge how they did in the draft until they start producing on the field..

Touche'! I still think you guys should have stuck with Thigpen and been better off overall than with Cassel, that extra pick could have really helped you in picking up someone like Everette Brown and the money and no change in QB could have kept Tony G. In my mind KC would be better with Thigpen, Brown, and Tony G than Cassel and Vrabel...

Of course we are still trying to figure out if Cutler is worth more or less than the combo of Ayers, Smith, Orton, and Quinn

I do think McDumb@$$ and Nolan will be better overall than Shanahan and the moron of the month DC that he picked to blame this year.

Yup!! Tim Ruskel is looking pretty smart this off season. Don't forget TJ Houz!

On top of all that we got Denvers #1 pick next year which could potentially be a top 5! With 3 QB's being available next year that are argueably all better then Stafford and Sanchez in thie years draft. The Hawks might still get Hasselbecks replacement.
